Mrs. Ethel Leler Chapman, age 92, of St. Louis, Mo., died Tuesday, July 2, 2002.
Mrs. Chapman was born Nov. 23, 1909 in Forrest City and was a retired presser.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by two daughters, Mattie Wilder of Forrest City and Barbara Spears of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Therman Wiley of Forrest City; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services for Mrs. Chapman were held at the Shady Grove M. B. Church on Friday, July 5, 2002. and in St. Louis, Mo. on Monday, July 8, 2002. Burial took place at Shady Grove Cemetery on Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at 10 a.m. Under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Mrs. George Davis Elizabeth "Biff" Eldridge, age 70, of Forrest City, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at the Beverly Nursing Home in Heber Springs.
Mrs. Eldridge was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Memphis, the daughter of Rowland C. Breese and Allie E. Alexander Breese. She lived in Forrest City most of her life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Friends of the Orpheum where she was chosen the 2001 Volunteer of the Year. She was also a member of the Musical Coterie of Forrest City and the Home Extension Club. She also supported Toys for Tots, the Forrest City Public Library and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
Mrs. Eldridge married George Davis Eldridge in 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1994.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Belle Downing of Heber Springs, Betty Breese Sessum of Caledonia, Miss., and Patricia Ann Henley of Heber Springs; one sister, Mary Sue Quinn of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eldridge were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Mt. Vernon Cemtery.
The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Forrest City or to the Forrest City Public Library.
