Dr. Schwartz edged True Value 6-5 Monday on the final playing date of the season for the 10-under slow-pitch girls' softball league, but fell short of taking home the league title.
That honor went to True Value, who finished 15-3 to win the outright league title.
Following a loss on June 4, True Value won 10 of their final 11 games to clinch the league. Monday's loss snapped True Value's 10-game win streak.
Food Giant, Steven's and Schwartz all finished in a three-way tie for second. All three teams finished the year at 14-4.
Monday night, Schwartz took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Mishanna Morgan, Andrea Hall, Katie Barnes and Brittney Kidd each scored.
True Value closed the gap to 4-3 with two runs in top of the third when Kimberly Jones and Sharika Jones each scored.
Schwartz added two final runs in the bottom of the third to push their lead to 6-3 when Morgan and Hall each scored for the second time.
True Value left two runners stranded in the top of the fourth and Schwartz went three and out in the bottom half of the inning.
Shanneka Barber's two-run home run in the top of the fifth got True Value within one run at 6-5.
Time expired as Schwartz batted in the bottom of the fifth inning.
In other games scheduled for Monday, Walker Insurance forfeited to McDonald's, Forrest City Bank forfeited to Steven's and Southern Furniture forfeited to Food Giant.
Tonight's schedule of games have been cancelled and forfeit wins and losses have already been awarded with True Value, Food Giant, Steven's and Schwartz earning forfeit victories.
