An employee of Griffin Rent-to-Own was the victim of an alleged armed robbery Friday night as he attempted to make a night deposit.
According to a report from the Forrest City Police Department, Samson Cunningham, 42, of Forrest City, reported that as he was making the night deposit at First National Bank of Wynne, that he was accosted by a black male with a gun who approached him from behind the Sears building.
No arrests have been made in connection with with the robbery. An unknown amount of currency and checks were taken in the robbery.
Staff members of the Times-Herald came away with several awards Saturday in the APA Better Newspaper contest, in the Smaller Dailies division.
Managing Editor Tamara Johnson received two, first-place awards. One was on Page One Content, the other was on Headline Writing ("Walls Fall, Water Rises").
Staff writer David Nichol also won a first place in the General Column Division, for "A Fatherless Father's Day."
Sports Editor Fred Conley received several awards, including second place in Single Sports Action Photo; third place in Photographer Portfolio; merit in Sport News Story; and two merit awards in Sports Column.
Nichol also took a merit award in Humorous Column, for "We Can Eat, or Watch a Movie."
The awards were presented Saturday at the Arlington Hotel and Spa in Hot Springs National Park.
