Fred's ends losing streak with win over Ridout

Fred's, last year's Junior Babe Ruth League champions, ended a five-game slide Tuesday with a 6-4 win over Ridout Lumber.

Terrence Pendleton and Rylan Nimocks combined to hold Ridout to the four runs on four hits with Pendleton going four innings.

Bud Heath led Fred's by scoring twice using an RBI single and a fielder's choice to get on base.

Nimocks, Pendleton and Michael Powell added single runs.

Fred's led 2-0 after two innings. Ridout scored a single run in the top of the third when Kiel Smith singled and scored on a RBI single by Landon McShan.

Fred's pushed their lead to 6-1 with four runs in the bottom of the fourth before Ridout scored a single run in the fifth and added two more in the sixth.

Marcus Cole, Ben Daugherty, Smith and Dion Davenport each scored for Ridout while Taurus Moore and Daugherty combined for the pitching duties.

Union Planter's Bank got three runs from Cassidy Hankins Tuesday night which helped lead to a 7-3 win over Rotary.

Planter's improves to 5-1 for the year while Rotary falls to 1-5.

Hankins had two singles and reached on an error. Ivan Gardner scored twice while Chris Haggans and Thomas Brown added single runs.

Gardner was the Planter's starting pitcher and Hankins came on to start the fifth.

Rotary plated two runs in the top of the first to lead 2-0 and Planter's tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the inning. Johnnie Jones walked for Rotary and Adam Moody delivered an RBI hit. Moody scored on a single by Avian Wright.

Planter's took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third and plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth to get the win.

Travis Holloway went the distance for Rotary Club.


Beasley makes it two wins in a row

Dr. Beasley made it two wins in a row Wednesday with a 17-4 win over Joey's Muffler in Minor League makeup games.

Tuesday, Beasley (3-4) edged Easley Law.

Tonight, Beasley, in the middle of a five game in four night stretch, takes on Lion's Club at 7:30 p.m. Lions Club pounded Easley Law 21-7 Wednesday night.

Beasley scored three times in the top of the first and then turned up the defense to hold Joey's to a single run in the bottom half of the inning.

Beasley blew the game open with eight runs in the second inning.

Kendall Lee led Beasley by scoring four runs while Quinton Jones and Brodie Johnson added three runs each. Calvin Hodges and Austin Chapman scored twice and Kevin Sullivan, Dekovan Fleming and Philandus Watson added single runs.

Laloyd Hamilton scored twice for Joey's.

Lion's Club ran their season record to 3-4 Wednesday while running all over Easley Law 21-7.

Timothy Graham, Michael Mathes, Marcus Scott, A.J. Martin and Daniel Perry plated three runs each while Cody Rice scored twice and Kyle Tillman, Luke Conner, Jordan Chatters and Jacob Tittle added single runs.

Easley got runs from Matthew Horton, Michael Leslie, James Pendergrass and Daniel Pettus.

Tonight, Easley will battle Joey's at 6 p.m. and Beasley takes on Lion's Club.

Friday night it's Ben's Auto vs T&J Properties at 6 p.m. and Devazier taking on M&T at 7:30 p.m.

The league will play make up games on Saturday.


Farm Credit gets a very important win

Farm Credit improved to 2-4 for the year Wednesday night taking down the VIPs 7-4 in Junior Bambino League play.

Lance Hughes pitched the complete game for Farm Credit, giving up the four VIP runs on two hits and eight walks while striking out five.

Chad Hogue scored twice for Farm Credit while Justin Crawford, Ben Dickey, Tony Morgan, Brandon Moton and Hughes scored single runs.

The VIPs got single runs from Devante Mitchell, Louis Driver, and two runs from Davanis Johnson.

Lucas Trucking stayed unbeaten for the year and got home runs from three different players in a 13-0 shut out win over Title Company.

John Jones hit two homers while Bruce Heard and Jim Bailey hit one home run each.

Title Company managed just one base runner during the game in the second inning when Jeffery Johnson reached base.

Likewise, Sanyo stayed undefeated by taking a 12-7 win over A&C Motors Wednesday.

Ladarius Hartaway homered for Sanyo in the first inning and scored twice. Terrance Mays, James Humphrey, Dontay Brown and Rubin Ivey all scored twice.

A&C got runs from Tate Roberts, Jeffery Lopez, Josh Taylor, Tyler Clark and Brandon Rickard.

Food Giant improved to 3-4 in the league with a 17-10 win over Hill Concrete.

Chandler Sorrells, Jacob Hoskins and T.J. McFadden all scored three times for the winners while Blake Duch scored twice.

Sorrells went the distance from the mound to get the win.

Dendric McCoy and Dominique Smith scored two runs each for Hill while Lee Henderson, Ladarius Townsend and Dominique Madden scored single runs.


T-H gets back on the winning track

Clay earns first win of the year in 16-under

Times-Herald got back on the winning track Wednesday night.

After suffering consecutive losses for the first time in two seasons, T-H got three runs each from Amber Hill and Stonie Weeks in a 14-12 win over Stone Cold Chemicals in 12-under girls' fast pitch softball.

The victory leaves Times-Herald at 4-2 and in second place behind league-leading Giffin's Grins, a 15-9 winner over Children's Clinic Wednesday.

In the final game of the night, Crowley's Ridge defeated McDonald's 12-11.

T-H put up five runs in the first to lead 5-3.

Both teams were tied at 6-6 after two innings before T-H plated three runs in the third to lead 9-7.

T-H scored two times in the fifth inning to win the game.

Giffins got three runs from Cassandra Jackson in the team's win over Children's Clinic.

Giffin's is 6-0 for the year.

Jasmine Williams scored three times to lead Crowley's Ridge Wednesday night.

In 16-under fast pitch action, Clay Funeral Home picked up the first win of the season Wednesday, downing Boar's Head 8-7.

Clay used a five-run third inning to take a 5-3 lead and held on for the win.

In other 16-under action, Dr. St. John improved to 5-1 for the year with a 13-3 win over Sanyo and Bonanza got past Food Giant 9-4.

St. John got three runs from Natalie Nelson.

Both leagues will return to play on Friday.


Schwartz takes down Food Giant to take possession of first place

The girls' 10-under slow pitch softball league played make up games Wednesday night.

Dr. Schwartz took over sole possession of first place in the league by stopping Food Giant 11-2.

Going into the game, both teams were unbeaten and tied for the league's top spot.

The loss leaves Schwartz at 7-0 and Food Giant at 6-1.

True Value and Steven's both picked up victories Wednesday night and are tied for third place in the league at 5-2.

True Value defeated Sanyo 10-3 while Steven's downed McDonald's 11-5.

In the only other game played Wednesday, Walker Insurance improved to 3-4 for the year by taking a 12-11 win over Southern Furniture.

Forrest City Bank and Title Company did not play Wednesday but will play a doubleheader Friday night, at 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m.

Schwartz led 3-1 after one inning and led 6-1 before scoring five times in the third inning.

Andrea Hall, Cara McCollum and Nikki Derrick scord twice for Schwartz.

True Value got three runs from Shaneka Barber while Steven's got two runs each from Kaitlyn Peterson and Mary Gregory.
