Mrs. Marie Evelyn Cooney, age 80, of El Dorado, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.
Mrs. Cooney was born Feb. 13, 1922 in Forrest City, and was the daughter of Ben and Esther Hendricks Hill. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cooney was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert M. Cooney; five brothers, Jack Hill, James Hill, Ray Hill, Floyd Hill and Ben Hill Jr.; and one great-grandson.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Howard of Homer, La. and Sue Hill of Parkers Chapel; one son, Wayne Cooney of Clinton; three sisters, Myrtle Hutchison of Forrest City, Margaret Gracey and Pat Gill, both of Heber Springs; two brothers, Hackler Hill of Heber Springs and Bobby Hill of Forrest City; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Cooney will be Friday, March 15, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Rumph-Owers Funeral Home in El Dorado. Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Cooney on Saturday, March 16, 2002, at 2 p.m., at Faith Assembly of God in El Dorado with Rev. Monroe Hill and Rev. William Carter officiating the service. Burial will follow in Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Rumph-Owers Funeral Home.
