Mrs. Gertrude Snyder Barg, age 89, of Little Rock, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 in Little Rock.
Mrs. Barg was a member of Baron Hirsch Synagogue, the B'nai B'rith Women, Hadassah, Forrest City Musical Coterie and the Baron Hirsch Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Barg and is survived by a daughter, Barbara Barg of New York City; a son, Charles Barg of Little Rock; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services For Mrs. Barg were Sunday, May 12, 2002 at Sam Abraham Chapel with burial at Baron Hirsch Cemetery under the direction Gan Aden Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be made to Baron Hirsch Synagogue.
Mrs. Genevieve Courtney, age 85, of Widener, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Forrest City.
Mrs. Courtney was born July 1, 1916, in St. Francis County, the daughter of Lee Lesmore Melton and Mattie Leslie Melton. She was a housewife and a member of the Widener Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Courtney, in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Rodney Courtney, in 1967. She is survived by three sons, Wayne Courtney of Forrest City, Dale Courtney and David Courtney, both of Widener; a sister, Lucille South of Conway; a brother, Eugene Melton of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Courtney will be at Stevens Funeral Home Monday, May 13, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Widener Baptist Church.
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Farmer, age 89, of Wynne, died Saturday, May 11, 2002 in Wynne.
She was born June 10, 1912, in Cloverbend, and was a homemaker. She had lived in Cross County since 1941 and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Farmer Sr., a son, Lloyd Farmer Jr. and a grandson, Darrell Wayne Farmer.
She is survived by two sons, Darell Boyce Farmer of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Kenneth Dale Farmer of Harrisburg; two daughters, Charlotte Kay Baskins of Wynne and Edith Pauline Bartlett of Forrest City; a brother, Alfred Pierce of Walnut Ridge; a sister, Orpha Murphy of Walnut Ridge; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Farmer were held at Kernodle Funeral Chapel in Wynne at 1 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2002, with Fred Strasser officiating. Burial followed in McElroy Cemetery, in Wynne, under the direction of Kernodle Funeral Home.

Rev. Howard J. Miller, age 90, of Brinkley died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at White County Hospital in Searcy.
Rev. Miller was a minister and Bishop serving the Full Gospel Churches of God. He is survived by his wife, Opal Powell Miller of Brinkley; two sons, Johnny Miller of Bald Knob and Howard Miller Jr. of Forrest City; two daughters, Ollie Mae Lorton of Searcy and Joyce Hopgood of Russellville; two stepsons, Cecil Powell of Searcy and Bobby Powell of Little Rock; three stepdaughters, Mary Sue Brown of Hot Springs, Virginia Foster of Jacksonville and Pat Lowery of Bankston, Ala.; 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 12, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Brinkley Full Gospel Church of God, with Rev. Leon Browning officiating, assisted by Rev. Jess Bline, Rev. Johnnie Hopgood and Rev. J.C. Ganey. Burial followed at Carter Cemetery at Russell, under the direction of Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home of Brinkley.
