Mr. Carroll Arland Bishop, age 67, of Forrest City, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.
Mr. Bishop, born March 17, 1935, in Conway, was the son of Bro. Cyril Clyde Bishop and Hazel New Bishop. He had made his home in the Forrest City area for the past 50 years where he served on the Forrest City Fire Department as Captain and interim chief. He was also assitant coordinator for Emergency Services in St. Francis County. Mr. Bishop was a veteran of the Army and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Wynne.
Mr. Bishop was married to Sue Lloyd and she survives him along with three daughters, Sally Wimberly of Conway, Brenda Morgan of Russellville and Cindy Davis of Bartlett, Tenn.; two sons, Carroll A. Bishop Jr and Chad A. Bishop, both of Conway; a step-daughter, Michelle Lloyd of Forrest City; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild Beau Aaron Morgan in 1996.
Visitation services for Mr. Bishop will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Bishop will be held Thursday, May 30, 2002, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Hughes and Rev. J.E. Hughes officiating the service. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frances I. Phillips, 75, of Widener, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Phillips was born April 8, 1927, in Trumann. She was the daughter of Lex Davis and Namoi Holsapple Davis. She lived in Widener for most of her life, was a housewife, a retiree of General Industries and was a member of the Widener Baptist Church.
Mrs. Phillips married Earl O. Phillips in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1983. she is survived by two sons Larry Phillips of Forrest City and David Phillips of Widener; six daughters Velma Padgett of Heth, Linda Willis of Wynne, Brenda White of Widener, Betty West of Forrest City, Penny Davis of Pennsylvania and Pam Carter of Marion; two sisters June Walker and Carolyn Watson both of Missouri; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Phillips will be held Thursday, May 30, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 31, 2002, at 11 a.m. with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery to follow. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
