T&J puts away Easley to stay unbeaten

Beasley rallies to clip Ben's Auto 5-4

T&J Properties stayed unbeaten Thursday night with a 10-4 victory over Easley Law.

The win leaves T&J at 4-0 for the year.

Andre Dulaney and Barlow Herbert each scored twice to lead T&J. Dulaney homered in the first inning.

T&J opened a 4-0 lead before Easley scored in the bottom of the second inning.

A three-run, third inning pushed T&J's lead to 7-1.

Easley scored single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. John Gilbreath homered for Easley in the third.

The win gives T&J a two-game lead over the league's only other unbeaten, Joey's, who stands at 2-0 and plays tonight.

Dr. Beasley 5, Ben's Auto 4

Dr. Beasley put together a four-run, fourth inning Thursday night to take a 5-4 come-from-behind win over Ben's Auto Sales.

Trailing 3-1, going into the bottom of the fourth, Quinton Jones led off the inning with a solo home run and Philandus Watson followed with a single.

Brodie Johnson's RBI triple scored Watson to tie the game at 3-3 and Johnson came around to score the go-ahead run as Beasley took a 4-3 lead.

Kevin Sullivan singled and scored Beasley's final run.

Ben's added a final run in the top of the sixth when Darrien Green homered. James Alldredge homered for Ben's in the fourth inning.

Dr. Beasley plays M&T Paving tonight at 7:30 p.m.


Taco Bell victory leaves L&L as league's only unbeaten team

With a little help from Taco Bell, L&L Electric is the only unbeaten team in the Bambino (11-12) League.

Taco Bell knocked off previously undefeated Pearson Insurance Thursday night while L&L was handing Ray Houser a 7-1 loss.

That left L&L at 4-0 for the year and Taco Bell and Pearson at 3-1 each.

L&L got a complete game pitching effort from Barrett Beshears in the win over Houser. Beshears allowed one run on four hits while walking six and striking out eight Houser hitters.

Chauceney Boles and Beshears led L&L by scoring two runs each. Garritt Clark and Findley Scott Laws scored single runs.

Houser scored its lone run in the top of the fifth when Jeremy Golatt tripled and scored.

Taco Bell 5, Pearson Insurance 4

Pearson scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at 4-4 before Taco Bell scored a single run by Nehemiah Stephens in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-4 victory.

Stephens led Taco Bell by scoring twice to back the pitching of Seth Smith and Justin Gadberry.

Chance Pearson led Pearson Insurance by scoring twice.

Cochran Auto 10, Vaccaro Lumber 5

Cochran kept Vaccaro Lumber winless for the year Thursday with a 10-5 win, using three runs by Randy Crawford.

Vaccaro led 3-2 after three innings but fell behind when Cochran scored a single run in the fourth to tie the game and used three runs in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead.

Taylor Glass 5, Bonanza 4

Taylor Glass improved to 2-2 for the year Thursday by edging Bonanza 5-4.

Bonanza led 4-2 after three innings. Taylor used two runs in the fourth to tie the game at 4-4 and a single run in the fifth to win it.

Donnie Willis Jr. scored twice to lead Taylor Glass while Bonanza got single runs from Charles Daugherty, Leonard Banks, Jacob Shafer and Brandon Davis.


Fireball Classic tournament Saturday, Sunday in FCity

The Fireball Classic Invitational Tournament will be played Saturday and Sunday at the Sports Complex.

The tournament features two divisions -- Minor (pitching machine) and Bambino (11-12) League.

Since the tournament is not a city league tournament, admission will be charged -- $2 for adults and $1 for kids 12-under.

The Minor League division will be played and completed on Saturday, weather permitting while the Bambino League division will begin Saturday and will conclude Sunday afternoon with the consolation and championship rounds.

The Minor League finals will be played Saturday at 4:30 p.m. while the Bambino finals will be played Sunday, at 2:30 p.m.


Planter's Bank stays unbeaten in JBabe Ruth

Planter's Bank continued to roll Thursday by taking an 8-3 win over Ridout in Junior Babe Ruth League play.

Planter's improves to 3-0 for the year and remains a game ahead of unbeaten Freeman, 2-0.

Freeman downed Fred's 17-7 Thursday.

Ivan Gardner and Cassiday Hankins combined for the Planter's Bank pitching assignment with Gardner working four innings and Hankins finishing up.

Planter's led 5-0 before Ridout plated a run in the top of the fourth inning.

Kyle Smith scored twice for Planter's while Ridout got single runs from Chris Williams, Justin Ross and Marcus Cole.

Freeman 17, Fred's 7

Freeman exploded for 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning in a 17-7 win over Fred's Thursday.

Terrance Ware and Kendall Rucker each scored four times to lead Freeman.

Ware was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks while Rucker doubled and walked three times.

Everyone in the Freeman lineup scored at least one run in the game.

Darry Banks and Ware combined for the pitching duties.

Fred's led 4-2 after two innings but a five-run third by Freeman left Fred's trailing 7-4. Fred's tied the game at 7-7 with three runs in the bottom of the third before being held scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Rylan Nimocks and Kevin Padilla scored two runs each for Fred's while Richard Flenory, Kentrell Buchanan and Terrence Pendleton scored single runs.

Nimocks and Pendleton combined for the pitching duties.


Sanyo, Barnes locked in tie for first place

Sanyo and Barnes kept pace Thursday night in adult men's softball -- each team winning to remain in a first-place tie.

Sanyo defeated Gym 2000 by the final 8-7 and Barnes shut out Boar's Head 12-0.

Both teams are 4-0 in the league.

Kerby's is also unbeaten, following Thursday's 18-5 win over Morgan, but is a game back at 3-0.

M&T Paving defeated Food Giant 17-5 and the Bulldogs rolled up Greg's Small Engine 22-12 to remain tied for third at 3-1 in the league.

The Young Guns downed Miller Insurance 23-8.

In the adult women's league, Chism Concrete used scored four runs in the third inning and added five in the fourth to put away Mohr Sports 13-3 to stay unbeaten at 4-0.

Mohr slips to 1-2 for the year.

Clark Appraisals improved to 2-1 Thursday with a 12-2 win over Purple Haze.

Clark scored five times in the third inning to lead 8-0.

Purple Haze scored both of its runs in the bottom of the inning before managing only three base runners over the final three innings.
