American Legion scheduled to host Jonesboro today

Weather permitting, the Forrest City American Legion baseball team will host Jonesboro tonight at the Sports Complex.

The game is a scheduled A-AAA doubleheader with a start time of 5 p.m.

The Forrest City A team is 0-3 for the year with losses to Lonoke and Newport while the AAA squad is 0-2 with losses to Newport and Greenbrier.

Today's game against Jonesboro is the only scheduled game for the team this week.

The team will travel to Wynne for a game on Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m.

EACC will host youth soccer and baseball camps

East Arkansas Community College will sponsor a youth soccer camp and a youth baseball camp during the month of June.

The soccer camp will be held June 3 through June 7, with instructors from the Germantown (Tenn.) Soccer Club.

The week-long camp has two age divisions for both boys and girls.

Those youths ages 5-8 will meet from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m., each morning while those youths, ages 9-13, will meet from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. each day.

Individual camp fees are $60 and all checks may be made payable to EACC. There is no registration deadline for the soccer camp, which will be held on the EACC soccer field and will focus on skills and tactical awareness using small-scale scrimmages.

The youth baseball camp, for boys and girls, will be held the week of June 17-19 at EACC with Dulin's Sports Academy of Memphis in charge.

The registration deadline for the baseball camp only is Friday, May 24.

Like the soccer camp, the baseball camp will be divided into two separate age divisions.

Youths, ages 6-8, will be attending the camp from 9 a.m. until 12 noon and those youths, ages 9-12, will be meeting from 1 until 4 p.m. each afternoon.

The baseball camp fees are $85 per camper and t-shirts will be given to each camper.

For more information about either of the two camps, call EACC at (870) 633-4480 Ext.261 or 333.
