By FRED CONLEY

T-H Sports Editor

Pearson Insurance spotted defending league champion Cochran Auto three runs in the top of the first inning in Thursday's Bambino League opener at the Sports Complex.

Pearson would score the next six runs on their way to a 6-3 win.

After the first inning, Cochran had just two base runners for the rest of the game -- one in the third inning and one in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Pearson got two runs each from Mark Machen and Chance Pearson and single runs from Quinn Powell and Ross Dunn in the victory.

Cochran got runs from Justin Cochran, Byron Gardner and Sam Carter.

Chad Doyle was the starting pitcher for Pearson and got the win by holding Cochran to three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out 12, including five straight batters, twice in the game.

Douglas Miller started for Cochran and worked into the bottom of the third before giving way to Cochran.

Taco Bell 5, Vaccaro 0

Seth Smith scored twice to lead Taco Bell past Vaccaro Lumber 5-0 Thursday.

New rule is tested and upheld

By FRED CONLEY

T-H Sports Editor

There's a new "no cursing" rule for players and coaches this year in the adult softball leagues.

It didn't take long to test the "zero" tolerance rule.

A Miller Insurance player was ejected Thursday night for breaking the rule on the opening night of adult men's league play at the Sports Complex.

Miller went on to edge Boar's Head 10-9 in the game after surviving a four-run, sixth inning rally by Boar's Head.

In other games, the Bulldogs romped past TSM Computers 20-5, Kerby's defeated Food Giant 27-4, Barnes Timber got past Greg's 16-6, Sanyo rolled up M&T Paving 22-10 and Gym 2000 defeated Morgan 25-11.

*In adult women's play Thursday, Mohr Sports edged First National Bank 16-14 while Chism Concrete held off Purple Haze 25-15.

Mohr scored nine runs in the first inning while FNB rallied for seven runs in the fifth inning.

Parkman homered during a five-run first inning.

Nicholas King scored three times to lead Devazier while Brian Morgan homered once and scored twice.
