Forrest City's youth baseball and softball program director Kenneth Taylor isn't trying to upset anyone by scheduling make-up games on a Wednesday night.
It's just that it is the first available date and with the prospect of more rain outs in the future a good possibility, the games have to be scheduled somewhere.
So that means that on Wednesday, (June 5), the Sports Complex will be open for business.
The T-Ball League will play four make up games, each beginning at 6 p.m.
For the Farm Bureau, edwin houston, Dr. Cartillar and Broadway Cinema teams, that means playing back-to-back games, since those four teams are also scheduled to play on Tuesday, June 4.
Playing make up games on Wednesday means a lot of activity for four of the Minor League teams.
With the revised schedule, the Dr. Beasley and Joey's Muffler teams will play five times in five days.
Both teams will play single games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and both teams will play twice on Saturday (June 8) the make up date for the May 9 and May 17 rain out games.
The Wednesday night make up games also means three games in four days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) for seven of the eight Junior Bambino League teams with Mr. T Auto being the exception.
The May 3 rain out was Mr. T's regularly scheduled open date and Friday, June 7, will be Mr. T's second open date.
The girls softball league teams will be playing three times next week, due to the Wednesday night make up schedule.
The Forrest City Mustang football camp will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 4, 5, and 6, from 8 until 11 a.m., at the Mustang Athletic Complex.
The camp is free of charge and is open to those students who will be going into the fourth, fifth and sixth grades in the fall. Pre-registration is not necessary.
*The East Arkansas Community College youth soccer camp will also be held June 3-7, with instructors from the Germantown (Tenn.) Soccer Club on hand.
The week-long camp has two age divisions for both boys and girls.
Those youths ages 5-8 will meet from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m., each morning while youths, ages 9-13, will meet from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Individual camp fees are $60.
The Memphis Redbirds will host a Major League Baseball Alumni Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic, Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at AutoZone Park.
Registration for the free clinic is being limited to the first 300 youths, ages six to 16. Those attending will receive professional, interactive instruction from past baseball greats, including Jimmy Wynn and local stars Charles Lea, Andy Cook, Reggie Williams and Larry Herndon.
