Mrs. Mary Holmes Cunningham, age 69, of Pensacola, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in Pensacola.
Mrs. Cunningham, formerly of Forrest City, served for many years as a recreation director with the U.S. Army. She was a Methodist by faith.
Mrs. Cunningham is survived by her husband of 51 years, Walter E. Cunningham; a son, Walter S. Cunningham of Pensacola; a daughter, Melanie Paquin of Memphis; a brother, Sonny Holmes of Forrest City; a sister, Regina Hastings of Pensacola, and six grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Cunningham will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Cokesbury United Methodist Church with Dr. Philip E. McVay officiating. Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be made to the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5725 N. Ninth Avenue, Pensacola, Fla., 32504.
Mr. Robert Calvin "R.C." Veasley, age 61, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Veasley, born Aug. 7, 1941, in Parkin, was the son of Olen Veasley and Josie Lee Veasley. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Washington Veasley of Forrest City; three daughters, Shirley Veasley of Pine Bluff, Farrah Williams of Jonesboro, Kitty Mays of Forrest City; six sisters, Cora Jean Veasley of Rochester, N.Y., Frankie Veasley of Chicago, Ill., Sandra Pittman and V'Essie Waldroup, both of Jonesboro, Mary Ann Veasley of Ona, Fla., and Bobbie Smith of Jonesboro; two brothers, John Lee Veasley of Jonesboro and Michael Veasley of Forrest City and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation services for Mr. Veasley will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at noon at New Light M.B. Church with Rev. Jesse McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Mrs. Marline Elizabeth Weddington, age 89, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002.
Mrs. Weddington was born Oct. 22, 1912, in Cherry Valley, the daughter of Walter Hardin and Annie Cook Hardin. She made her home in Forrest City most of her life, was a housewife and a charter member of the Second Baptist Church.
Mrs. Weddington married Raymond Weddington in 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1967. She is survived by three sons, Larry W. Weddington of Wynne, Ewell W. Weddington of Little Rock, Darrel G. Weddington of Forrest City; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation for Mrs. Weddington will be held Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Thomason officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
