Mrs. Bertha Lee Jackson, age 69, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Jackson was born July 16, 1933, in Widener, the daughter of John H. Robinson and Cynthia Humphery Robinson.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by four daughters, Mae Jackson, Gloria Hamberry, Sandra Grady and Pearlie Cunningham all of Forrest City; four sons, Herman Jackson of Jacksonville, N.C., Tommy Jackson Jr. of Colt, Freddie Jackson and Richard Jackson both of Forrest City; three sisters, Cora Burns and Flora Green both of Chicago, Ill., Ethel Goodwin of Markham, Ill.; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Jackson will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Rising Sun M.B. Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Mr. Elmo R. McGowan, age 73, of Detroit, Mich., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in Forrest City.
Mr. McGowan was born March 8, 1929, in Widener. He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. McGowan is survived by three sons, Elmo R. McGowan Jr. of Detroit, Mich., Donald McGowan of Tyronza, Allen McGowan of Springfield, Mo.; five daughters, Corine McGowan of California, Lorine Paris of San Diego, Calif., Pamela Morris and Juanita McGowan of Turrell, Isabella McGowan of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Lane McGowan of Davenport, Iowa, and Floyd McGowan of Columbus, Miss.; two sisters, Mary Jones of Forrest City, Aletha Dancey of Osceola; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. McGowan will be held Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at Clay Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will follow in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Mr. Carl Montgomery, age 39, of Moro, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center.
Mr. Montgomery was born Feb. 27, 1963, in Forrest City. He was a retired carpenter.
Mr. Montgomery is survived by his mother, Grace Montgomery of Forrest City; two daughters, Collin Montgomery of Little Rock and Carlisha Montgomery of Moro; three brothers, Edsel Montgomery of Forrest City and Bobby Montgomery and Steven Montgomery, both of Ft. Smith; five sisters, Lucy Camper, Emma Edwards, Donna Montgomery and Lisa Montgomery all of Forrest City and Joyce Strong of Ft. Smith.
Visitation for Mr. Montgomery will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Clay Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Booker T. Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Mr. Willie C. Williams Sr., age 91, of San Diego, Calif. and formerly of Forrest City, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Williams was born July 27, 1911, in Madison, the son of Walter and Mattie Smith Williams. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the New Creation Church.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruth Hancock Williams of the home; two sons, Willie C. Williams Jr. of Mansfield, La., and Kenneth Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Lula Washington, Ruthie Russell and Carol Williams all of San Diego, Calif., and Jewel Williams of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Gray Tubbs of Forrest City; a brother, Leroy Williams of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the New Creation Church in San Diego, Calif., with Rev. Amos Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in LaVista Memorial Park in National City, Calif. under the direction of San Diego Memorial Chapel.
