Ms. Vera M. Davis, age 76, of West Helena, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.
Ms. Davis was born Nov. 29, 1925, the daughter of John Wesley Smith and Nellie Musgrove Smith. She was a housewife and a Baptist.
Ms. Davis is survived by one son, Steve Davis of California; one daughter, Kathy Davis of Oklahoma; one sister, Elsie Davis of Lexa; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Ms. Davis will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held graveside on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Marvell Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Mrs. Mary Kelly McKenzie, age 86, of Hughes, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.
Mrs. McKenzie was born Nov. 17, 1915 in Sheridan, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. O.R. Kelly. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and attended graduate school at Tulane University. She was a social worker for 20 years and a member of the Town and County Garden Club. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Hughes.
Mrs. McKenzie is survived by three daughters, Margaret Herzfeld of Benton, Carole Parsley of Crofton, Md., and Kathy McKenzie of Hot Spring; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob McKenzie earlier this year and a son, Bob Kelly McKenzie in 1996.
Visitation for Mrs. McKenzie will be held Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hughes. Funeral services will be held following the visitation on Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hughes and graveside at 3 p.m. at Sheridan Cemetery in Sheridan. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Hughes.
