JHigh football tonight

By FRED CONLEY

T-H Sports Editor

It's showdown time for the Forrest City Blue Mustangs tonight.

Rich Trail's 3-1 Blue Mustangs will take on undefeated West Memphis West on the road in a key AAAAA-East junior high conference matchup.

Jonesboro Annie Camp, the league's other unbeaten team, will go against Blytheville.

The Blue Mustangs are in second place in the league standings and a victory over West tonight would help their cause with two conference games remaining against Jonesboro McArthur and West Memphis East. Both McArthur and East have losing records.

The Blue Mustangs have already played Annie Camp.

Annie Camp and West have yet to play each other.

"That will be a war when those two teams get together," Trail said recently. "Annie Camp may be the biggest junior high football team I've seen. I thought on film, West was the team to beat in the conference, but now I'm not sure. I think Annie Camp will have a lot to say about who wins the conference title."

Locally, the White Mustangs 1-4 overall for the year, will host West Memphis Wonder tonight at Sam Smith Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The White Mustang eighth-grade unit defeated Wonder's eighth-graders Tuesday night 30-0.

Lady Mustangs face top ranked, unbeaten JBoro

The Forrest City Lady Mustang volleyball team has a tough task ahead of them.

The Lady Mustangs must face the No. 1 ranked and unbeaten Jonesboro Lady Hurricane in AAAAA-East Conference play today at Jonesboro.

Ranked right behind Jonesboro in the Eastern Arkansas, is Crowley's Ridge, Piggott and Valley View.

Jonesboro is 21-0 for the year. Looking at another state title, Jonesboro's biggest threat could be Conference foe Cabot.

Forrest City has two games left after today at Mt. Home and at Blytheville.

Due to renovation projects within the school system, the Lady Mustangs have had to play all of their games on the road.
