Annie Camp shuts down Forrest City White 49-0

Cody Pace scored every time he touched the ball and Annie Camp's defense limited Forrest City White to minus-8 yards as the Whirlwinds cruised to a 49-0 victory over the Colts Thursday in junior high football at Cooksey-Johns Field.

Annie Camp (5-0, 3-0 AAAAA-East) finished with 270 yards total offense while holding Forrest City White (1-4, 1-2) to no first downs for the game.

Annie Camp keeps pace with West Memphis West, also 5-0 after Thursday's 28-0 win over Blytheville.

Pace scored on a 23-yard run and caught TD passes of 46 and 17 yards in a 35-0 first half, before scoring again on a 21-yard run in the third quarter.

He finished with two rushes for 44 yards and two receptions for 63 yards. Carter Harbuck completed the 17-yard score to Pace, plus an 11-yard TD to Murray Watts.

The Harbuck-to-Watts score was set up by Antwon Murry's 31-yard return on a fumble recovery.

Darrel Jackson threw the 46-yarder to Pace on a double reverse, plus caught a pass from Harbuck for 32 yards.

Kyle Rothgery added a 24-yard TD run and a two-point conversion run in the first half, while Harbuck passed to Todd Ellis for another two points. Harbuck also kicked a pair of extra points.

Bryce Bennett's 1-yard TD run and Harbuck's second of two extra-point kicks set the final in the fourth quarter.

Hughes 46, Junior Patriots 18

Adam Kennedy did all he could for the Palestine-Wheatley Junior Patriots Thursday, scoring three touchdowns, but the P-W defense couldn't contain Hughes' Kendrick Smith, who scored four touchdowns to lead the Blue Imps to a 46-18 win at Wheatley.

The Blue Imps led 24-6 after one quarter in which Smith, Marcus Washington and Cody Ladner each scored.

By the half it was 30-12 and by the end of the third quarter, Hughes was in contrrol 38-18.

Hughes improves to 4-1 for the year and remains in a tie for second place in the 3AA Conference.

The Junior Patriots fall to 1-4 for the year.

JB McArthur 25,

WM Wonder 14

MacArthur quarterback Fielder Kelly ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Cyclones swept away West Memphis Wonder 25-14 Thursday to earn their first victory of the 2002 season.

Kelly carried the ball 21 times for 157 yards for a pair of scores and threw it for 81 yards on 8-of-14 passing and another score.

Trailing 6-0 late in the first period, Kelly scored from two yards out. Wonder answered with a 35-yard touchdown pass as time expired in the opening period to give the home team a 14-7 advantage.

MacArthur would shut West Memphis out the rest of the way, scoring 18 unanswered points, including a Logan Nutt pass that hooked up with Matt Garner from 5 yards out for a TD with 1:39 remaining in the first half.

Garner caught eight passes for 81 yards and the touchdown.

Kelly added a touchdown pass at the 4:24 mark in the third quarter, connecting with Jarrett Akins, then rambled for 60 yards with :04 remaining in the period to give the Cyclones the final margin of 25-14.

Walnut Ridge 8, Salem 0

Walnut Ridge's Adam Huffstedler capped off a 90-yard drive with :58 remaining in the game on a 1-yard touchdown run to give Walnut Ridge an 8-0 victory over Salem Thursday in junior high football.

Huffstedler added the two-point conversion to make the final 8-0. He contributed 70 yards on 16 carries to Walnut Ridge's 127 yards on the ground.

Walnut Ridge improves to 4-1 on the year.

Marked Tree 42, Rector 6

Brian Coleman and Patrick Powell combined to rush for over 280 yards and scored two touchdowns each to lead Marked Tree to a 42-6 win over Rector in 3AA conference junior high football Thursday night.

Coleman rushed for 145 yards on only six carries, including touchdown runs of 59 and 48 yards for the Indians, who improved to 5-0 overall and in the league.

Powell chipped in 141 yards on six carries, had scoring runs of 79 and 50 yards, and also ran for a two-point conversion.

Dustin Scott returned a kickoff 68 yards for a touchdown for Rector's only score in the game.
