The Forrest City Mustangs, still in search of their first AAAAA-East Conference win of the season, will have to look for it at Cabot Friday.
And looking for any kind of victory at Cabot over the years -- for any team -- has proven to be a difficult task.
The Mustangs are 0-2 in the league after losing to Searcy 23-14 at Sam Smith Friday.
Cabot is reeling as well following their Friday night visit to West Memphis.
The Blue Devils knocked off the Panthers 28-20.
It was the first conference loss for Cabot since the 1999 season.
Even more surprising than that is how West Memphis won the game, coming back from a 20-0 halftime deficit to pull the game out in stunning fashion.
Cabot built its lead on the legs of junior fullback Chris Robertson and quarterback Greg Firestone.
West Memphis repeatedly fed the ball to fullback Kyle Payne and slowly inched up the field cutting the Cabot lead to 20-7.
The Blue Devils then trimmed the lead to 20-14 and then recovered a Cabot fumble and embarked on a a 94-yard, time consuming drive, with Payne scoring his third touchdown completing the comeback.
Another Cabot fumble cost the Panthers the game. This time the loose ball was scooped up on the run by Blue Devil defensive back Jarrod Stokes and returned 50 yards for the touchdown with less than three minutes to go.
The loss drops Cabot into a tie for second place with a 1-1-conference record and 3-2 overall.
West Memphis improved to 4-1 and 2-0 in league play, tied for the league lead with Jonesboro, who handled Jacksonville with ease at Jan Crow Stadium.
Forrest City has lost the last six meetings against Cabot by a combined score of 180-to-33.
"I don't know is catching Cabot after a loss like that is good for us or bad for us," said Mustang Coach Donnie Willis. "But the game has to be played."
