Vernell Jackson Jr.

Mr. Vernell Jackson Jr., age 70, of Aubrey, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Jackson was born July 29, 1932, in Marianna, the son of Vernell Jackson and Meseria Lane Jackson. He was a member of the Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Jackson married Rebecca Hooks Jackson in 1959, and she survives him along with his father; one son, Tyrone Jackson of Moro; three daughters, Ella Scott and Essie Blocker both of Aubrey, Morlene Dorsey of St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, James Jackson, Randy Jackson, Charles Jackson, and Ivory Jackson all of Marianna; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two brothers, two sisters and a son.

Funeral services for Mr. Jackson were held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Aubrey. Burial followed in Friendship Church Cemetery in Rondo under the direction of McNeal Funeral Home.


Randall Trent Morgan

Mr. Randall Trent Morgan, age 43, of Wynne and formerly of Colt, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Morgan was born March 1, 1959, in Wynne, the son of Wilson Morgan and Lucille Cook Morgan. He was a 1977 graduate of Wynne High School, a peach grower and farmer, and a member of Village Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Morgan is survived by three sons, John Morgan, Matt Morgan and Chris Morgan all of Wynne; two daughters, Meredith Morgan Odom of Collinsville, Ill., and Terri Morgan of Jonesboro; one brother, Larry Morgan of Wynne; and one sister, Sheila Cartillar of Wynne. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Morgan and Kenneth Morgan.

Funeral services for Mr. Morgan were held Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Dr. Neal Clark officiating. Burial followed in Loughridge Cemetery in Colt under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Loughridge Cemetery Fund.


Tom Westbrook

Mr. Tom Westbrook, age 60, of Palestine, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Westbrook was born Nov. 11, 1941, in Palestine, the son of Thomas Westbrook and Ozella Lane Westbrook. He lived in Palestine for most of his life, was retired from Leaf Incorporated in Memphis and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Palestine.

Mr. Westbrook married Barbara Coons in 1962, and she survives him along with two daughters, Cindy Reeves and Vanessa Ferguson both of Palestine; two brothers, Bill Westbrook and Robert Westbrook both of Marmaduke; two sisters, Sarah Lindsey of Mississippi and Doris Cook of Palestine and three grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Westbrook will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Bell Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


Juanita Conyears White

Mrs. Juanita Conyears White, age 79, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. White was born Sept. 22, 1922, the daughter of Henry Conyears and Lillie Conyears.

She is survived by her husband, Randall White of Forrest City; two brothers, Tommie Conyears of Moro and Curtis Conyears of St. Louis, Mo., and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by three infant sisters and a brother Henry White Jr.

Funeral services for Mrs. Conyears were held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Moro. Burial followed in Springfield Church Cemetery under the direction of McNeal Funeral Home.
