Roosevelt Brown Sr.

Mr. Roosevelt Brown Sr., age 60, of Chicago, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Brown was born July 12, 1942, in Hughes, the son of Rev. James Brown Sr. and Alice Looney Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by both his parents; three sons, Anthony Brown, Emerson Brown and Robert Brown all of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Kathy Brown of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Arteria Williams and Mary Shivers both of Forrest City, Velma Cornelius; eight brothers, James Brown Jr., Arthur Brown and Wilbert Brown all of Chicago, Ill. Spencer Brown of West Memphis, Oscar Brown, Andrew Brown and Curtis Brown all of Forrest City, Thee Brown of Palestine; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Brown will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 2002, at 3 p.m. at Rising Sun M. B. Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Eunice Pauline Chism Dallas

Mrs. Eunice Pauline Chism Dallas, age 70, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

Mrs. Dallas was born April 4, 1932, in Pottsville, the daughter of Milford "Bill" Ellison and Stella Morgan Ellison. She live in St. Francis County most of her life, was a housewife, had been a nursery worker for Beck Spur Baptist Church for over sixteen years and a member of the Beck Spur Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dallas married Calvin Chism in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1962. She married Vernon Dallas in 1964 and he preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Dallas is survived by eight daughters, Charlotte Sallis of Charlotte, N. C., Paulette McGowan of Palestine, Shelia Gordon of Paragould, Vernie Dallas Brown of Colt, Jenny Abbott, Leosha Bradford, Jackie Busby and Hope Dallas Davenport all of Forrest City; one son, Shane Dallas of Caldwell; one brother, Bruce Ellison of Calif.; four sisters, Charlene Lemmons and Nina Casey both of Ill., Geneva Leonard of Ind., Pat Kimbro of Pocahontas; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Vistation for Mrs. Dallas will be held Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at 6 to 9 p.m. at Beck Spur Baptist Church. Services will be held at Beck Spur Baptist Church on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at 1 p.m. with burial to follow in Hughes Cemetery. Stevens Funeral home is in charge of all arrangements. The family requests memorials be made to the Beck Spur Baptist Church or the Baptist Hospice in Forrest City.


Grover Jack Key Sr.

Mr. Grover Jack Key Sr., age 72, of Forrest City, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City. Mr. Key was born Dec. 9. 1930, in Hughes, the son Henry Key and Stella L. Key.

Mr. Key is survived by his wife, Mary Kellom Key of Forrest City; his mother, Stella Leak of Caldwell; five daughter, Brenda Key, Vicky Key, Felicha Key, Latonya Key, Bernadine Kellon all of Forrest City; five sons, Michael Key of Jonesboro, Chico Key, Grover Jack Key Jr. and Ricco Key all of Forrest City, Calvin Anderson of Gary Ind.; and one brother, Frederick Key of Caldwell.

Services will be held for Mr. Key on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at 11 a.m. United Christian Church I. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Essie Kinney

Mrs. Essie Kinney, age 82, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, in Forrest City.

Mrs. Kinney was born March 13, 1920, in Boonesville, Miss., the daughter of Ed Free and Louanna Thomas Free. She made her home in Forrest City all of her life, was a housewife and was a member of the Haynes Baptist Church.

Mrs. Kinney married O'Herron "Doodle" Kinney in 1960 and he preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by two nieces, Betty Sanders and Jannie Leslie both of Forrest City; and one nephew, John Brown of Forrest City.

Visitation for Mrs. Kinney will be held Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held graveside at Forrest Park Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, with Rev. David Ramsey officiating. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


James L. McDowell Sr.

Mr. James L. McDowell Sr., age 73, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. Mr. McDowell was born May 14, 1929, in Barn Arrow, the son of Green Arthur McDowell and Electra McDowell.

Mr. McDowell is survived by four daughters, Blanche Weeams of Marianna, Mary Agnew and Diane Holloway both of Forrest City, Martha McDowell of Memphis; eight sons, James L. McDowell, Larry McDowell and David McDowell all of Little Rock, Charles McDowell, Tomicho McDowell and Jerry McDowell all of Forrest City, Edward McDowell of Tulsa, Okla., James L. McDowell Jr. of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sisters, Dorothy Banks, Annie Green McDowell both of Forrest City; 31 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren

Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10. 2002, at the New Light M. B. Church with Rev, Jessie McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Colby Kelley Starling

Colby Kelley Starling, six months old, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Jonesboro. He is survived by his mother, Amy Starling of the home; his father Graham Starling of the home; a brother, Chandler Scott Starling of the home; his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Stan Kelley of Heber Springs; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Starling of Paragould.

Services for Starling were held graveside on Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating. The Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of all arrangements. The family requests that memorials be made to CJ Foundation for SIDS, Hackensack University Medical Center, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, N.J. 07601; or National Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Resource Center, 2070 Chain Bridge Road, Suite 450, Vienna, Va. 22182.
