Dominique Sinclair scored three touchdowns and senior Lafayette Smith added two scores to help the Forrest City Mustangs roll past Marianna 41-6 in nonconference action at Sam Smith Stadium.
The Mustangs, 1-1 for the year, rolled up 319 yards of total offense all on the ground while holding the Trojans (0-2) to just 107 yards of total offense.
Sinclair led the rushing attack with 92 yards on 14 carries while Smith finished with 67 yards on five carries.
Larry Bean added a touchdown and finished with 75 yards on six carries.
The Mustangs led 14-0 after one quarter and 27-0 at the half.
A 33-yard touchdown run by Smith in the third gave the Mustangs a 34-0 lead to open the final quarter.
Marianna got on the scoreboard with 8:16 to play in the game when Ureal Lucky scored from seven yards out.
The Forrest City JV Mustangs host Brinkley tonight at 6:30 p.m., at Sam Smith.
The varsity Mustangs will host Osceola Friday, Sept. 20.
Bulldogs 28, Patriots 12
Marcellous Witherspoon ran for 230 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Earle Bulldogs past Palestine-Wheatley 28-12 Friday night at Earle.
The Bulldogs rolled up more than 400 yards of total offense against the Patriots, who fall to 0-2 for the year.
P-W got 107 rushing yards from sophomore Brad Barton, but it was Brandon Roberts who accounted for both Patriot touchdowns.
Barton's rushing toal came on 11 carries. Quinton Mason added 64 yards on six carries.
The Patriots chewed up 268 yards on the ground and finished with 305 total yards.
P-W led 6-0 to start the second quarter after an eight-yard run by Roberts.
Earle tied the game at 6-6 when Witherspoon scored with 2:51 to play in the half on a four-yard run.
The Patriots drove to the Bulldog three with 30 seconds left in the first half but fumbled the ball to the Bulldogs.
J.T. Toombs put Earle in front 14-6 when he returned the second half opening kickoff for a quick-strike score.
Earle, which improves to 1-1 for the season and 1-0 in the 3AA Conference, added two more touchdowns in the four period after Roberts scored for P-W in the third.
P-W will play at Cross County Friday while Earle will be at Marked Tree.
Blue Devils 59, Bobcats14
The Hughes Blue Devils opened 3AA Conference play Friday with a 59-14 win over Walnut Ridge.
Hughes improves to 1-1 for the year and 1-0 in the league while the Bobcats fall to 0-2 and 0-1.
Hughes travels to Rector Friday night.
West Memphis 28, Osceola 8
West Memphis handed Osceola a 28-8 defeat Friday in high school football.
Osceola (0-2) scored first with 9:27 left in the first quarter to lead 8-0.
West Memphis (1-1) scored when Jason Trotter returned in a fumble recovery for a touchdown with 4:46 left in the second quarter, and the two-point conversion pass tied it 8-8.
West Memphis scored twice in the third quarter to make it 20-8 and added a fourth-quarter TD with 8:55 left to make the final score.
West Memphis ran for 230 yards and was 2-for-3 in passing for nine yards.
Marked Tree 20, Salem 6
Marked Tree did all of its scoring in the first half as both quarterback Sugar Ray Jones and running back Anquion Williams rushed for over 100 yards each to lead Marked Tree past Salem 20-6 in high school football action Friday night.
Williams rushed for 154 yards on 24 carries and Jones ran for 102 yards on 10 carries and went 2-of-6 passing for 75 yards and one touchdown.
Marked Tree improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in 3AA conference play.
Salem (1-1, 0-1 3AA) scored with 1:38 left in the first quarter on an 11-yard run by Jamie Sisk.
Cross County 41, Rector 14
After breaking a 45-game losing streak, Cross County has started a winning streak.
The Thunderbirds made it two wins in a row Friday night, cruising past Rector 41-14 Friday night in 3AA conference high school football action.
Cross County opened the year with a 61-0 win over McCrory. McCrory fell to Hazen 80-0 Friday.
The Thunderbirds will host Palestine-Wheatley Friday night in a 3AA-Conference matchup.
The Forrest City eighth-grade Blue Mustangs rolled past West Memphis East 38-8 Saturday morning at Sam Smith Stadium.
Cordera Tripp started the on slaught with a 17-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give Forrest City a 6-0 lead.
Stephon Weaver made it 12-0 when he broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter and added a three-yard score with 43 seconds left in the first half to put the Blue Mustangs up 18-0 at the half.
East got on the board in the third quarter and added the two-point conversion but the Blue Mustangs answered with touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to set the final.
In seventh-grade action, West Memphis East held off Forrest City 28-14.
East led 14-0 before Cameron Norris scored with 4:58 to play in the first half. East made it a 20-6 lead midway through the third before Norris added a three-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter. Weaver added the two-point conversion to cut East's lead to 20-14. East scored with five minutes left to play.
The seventh grade Forrest City team will host Marion Tuesday at 5 p.m. and the eight-grade White Mustangs will host Marion at 6:30 p.m.
The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation made it possible for 21 Forrest City seventh-grade football players to attend the Arkansas-South Florida football game played Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The 'Burl's Kids' program, now in its third season, selects youths from Arkansas schools and gives them the opportunity to attend Razorback home games at Fayetteville and Little Rock. The kids are given a 'Burl's Kids' certificate, a t-shirt and black rimmed glasses (minus the glass). The Forrest City youths were given the chance to be on the field with the Razorbacks during pregame warmups. Josh Hinkle and Leonard Banks appeared on the pregame radio program while Jeffrey Vaughn made a guest appearance on Sunday's Houston Nutt television show. The Forrest City Burl's Kids were James Green, Rico Troup, Tyrice Bradley, Alexander Dulaney, Dedrick Beary, Robert Tobar, Bradley Kirklin, Matthew Carson, Edward Combs, Demetrius Hunter, Cameron Norris, Garritt Clark, Kendrick Norris, Torrey Payton, Julian Isom, Justin Cochran, Fred Barber, Banks, Vaughn and Hinkle.
