Samuel Lee Ashworth

Mr. Samuel Lee Ashworth, age 53, of Hughes, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Ashworth was a member of the Hughes First Baptist Church, a former farmer and a teacher at Hughes High School. He was also a member of the Hughes Hunting Club, and a graduate of Arkansas State University.

Mr. Ashworth is survived by his father, Sam G. Ashworth of Hughes; two sisters, Sherry Ashworth Dodd of Horseshoe Lake and Patsy Baldridge Bedford of Springdale. He was preceded in death by his mother, Glady Roberts Ashworth.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with Brother Charlie Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Union Mission, 383 Poplar Ave., Memphis, Tenn. 38105.


Margaret Buford Haven

Mrs. Margaret Buford Haven, age 95, of Forrest City, died Saturday, April 19, 2003.

Mrs. Haven was born July 22, 1907, in Forrest City, the daughter of Thomas A. Buford and Claudia Mallory. She had made her home in Forrest City for all of her life, was employed at Planters Bank and Trust, and worked with her husband at Haven Hardware. She was a longtime member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church and was active in Women of the Church.

Mrs. Haven married Charles N. Haven in 1931, and he preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, Betty Jo Eldridge of Marietta, Ga., Doug Buford of Little Rock, Joyce Sweet and Louis "Buzz" Haven both of Forrest City, Margaret Cogdell of Charlotte, N.C., Gwen Mathias of Fresno, Calif. and Jenny Johnson of Mountain Home.

A memorial service for Mrs. Haven will be held at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, with Dr. Denton McLellan officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
