Area residents seeking answers to some health questions may want to attend the second annual Health Forum and Fair set for Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forrest City Civic Center.
The event, according to Delores Woods, Health Outreach Coordinator for the East Arkansas Enterprise Community, will have many representatives from several health agencies on hand to answer medical questions.
"A wide variety of agencies representing many different health concerns will be there ready to answer questions," said Woods. "The Arkansas Cancer Research Center, Minority Health Commission, Baptist Memorial Hospital of Forrest City and the American Heart Association are just a few of the 34 exhibitors that will attend."
Woods stated that there will be many activities and services available for both young and old. "In addition to providing different games, face painting and balloons for children, we will be having Forrest City Fire and Police Departments talking to them about safety and the Arkansas State Police Troop D will take their fingerprints and put their photos on a computer disk for their parents.
"For the older group, we will have the Arkansas Volunteer Lawyers for the Elderly at the event. They help elderly with legal problems. We will also offer help with senior health insurance. Many seniors get insurance or maintain insurance to help pay for doctor visits or medicine when they already have Medicaid or Medicare. We will have a booth dedicated to helping seniors determine what insurance care they need," Woods added.
Numerous medical screenings will also be available at the event, including fat density tests and diabetes tests. Woods said some screenings that are not available, like mammograms, will still be offered with vouchers. "We hope to have a great turnout," added Woods. "If you have health questions, this is a good opportunity to have them answered."
The Health Forum and Fair is sponsored by the East Arkansas Enterprise Community and co-sponsored by the Forrest City Mayor's Office, the White River Rural Health Centers, Inc. and the Lee County Cooperative Clinic. For more information, contact Delores Woods at 630-2005.

The unexpected -- and for a while undiscovered -- death in Memphis of a computer expert who worked for East Arkansas Community College has upset many on the campus.
According to Glenn Ford, director of the physical plant at East Arkansas Community College and supervisor of security personnel, no one knew what had happened to Gregory Fedairo, 47, until he was found in Memphis, the victim of an apparent heart attack.
"He apparently got sick, and according to the Memphis Police Department report, his girlfriend called and he told her he was sick," said Ford. "Later she tried to call him and was not able to make contact."
Ford said Fedairo apparently had an office in Memphis, and a building manager went to check on him. The building manager could not get in the door, but saw Fedairo lying on a couch.
After police and medical personnel were called, Fedairo was pronounced dead.
It is not known how long he had been dead, but the body was found last Friday. A spokesman for the Memphis Police Department confirmed that the death was ruled a heart attack.
"He had been here a little over a year," said Ford. Fedairo started work at the school as director of computer services on Dec. 3, 2001.
"He was proficient at his job, and he wasn't an old guy," said Ford. "It's kind of caught everybody off guard. When somebody passes like that, it takes everybody back some."
Ford said concern had begun to grow over Fedairo when he missed several days at work and could not be reached by telephone. He said it was difficult to get information because Fedairo didn't have family in the area.
"We tried making some telephone calls," said Ford. "And then we got the call."
