Norma Jean Davis

Mrs. Norma Jean Davis, age 68, of Forrest City died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Davis was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Haynes, the daughter of Willard S. Presley and Inez Parrish Presley. She was an employee of General Industries for 27 years and was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. Davis married William Guy Davis Jr. in 1953, and he survives her along with two sons, William Guy Davis III of Forrest City and Randal Curtis Davis of Colt; two daughters, Diane Neisler of Forrest City and Beverly J. Meredith of Hot Springs; her mother of Haynes; five sisters; Margaret Cashion and Gail Oxner both of Mississippi, Betty French of Palestine, Barbara Bittle of Forrest City and Donna Held of Haynes; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Davis will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.


Jerry P. Hicky

Mr. Jerry P. Hicky, age 82, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mr. Hicky, born June 6, 1921, in Forrest City, was the son of Phil Hicky and Gladys Gilbeaux. Mr. Hicky was a lifelong resident of the Forrest City and Marianna areas and was a retired farmer and peach grower. Mr. Hicky, a veteran of World War II, was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter at Louisiana State University and had served on the board of trustees at the University of the South. He was a charter member of the Marianna Country Club and served on the Marianna School Board and was a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Marianna and served many times as a Vestry at the church.

In 1945 Mr. Hicky married Mary Bliss Yancy and she survives him along with two sons, Preston Gray Hicky of Forrest City and Bliss Yancy Hicky and his wife Jan Newton Hicky, of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Christopher Gray Hicky of California, Jennifer Hicky Collins and her husband Hank Collins, both of Forrest City, Laura Yancy Hicky of Forrest City, Mary Elizabeth Hicky of Grapevine, Texas, and William Bliss Hicky of Oxford, Miss.; and one great-grandchild, Molly Jamieson Collins of Forrest City. Mr. Hicky was preceded in death by a brother, James Hicky in 1993.

Funeral services for Mr. Hicky will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Marianna. Burial will follow in Marianna Memorial Park under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Center in Memphis or St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
