Hope Lee Bradford

Hope Lee Bradford, age 84, of Dallas, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Bradford was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Tunica, Miss., the son of Addison Morton Bradford Sr., and Olivette Bonner Bradford. He was raised in Forrest City.

He was a World War II veteran and owned and operated Consoldiated Sawmills in Shreveport, La. He served as commander of the American Legion in Shreveport, was a 60-year Mason and a 50-year Shriner.

Mr. Bradford is survived by his wife of 21 years, Nancy Bradford, and a daughter Hope Bradford Prince of Shreveport; a son, Robert Newton Osmond of Seattle; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Olivette Bradford.

A memorial service for Mr. Bradford will be held at the Restland Memorial Chapel in Dallas on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, c/o Hella Shrine Temple, 2121 Rowlett Road, Garland, Texas 75043.


Linda Rauscher Harrington

Mrs. Linda Rauscher Harrington, age 72, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at her home.

Mrs. Harrington was born June 15, 1931, in Forrest City. She was the daughter of Frank Rauscher and Elizabeth Katherine "Dude" Hoshall Rauscher. She had made her home in Forrest City all of her life and was retired from the Forrest City Public Schools. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Harrington was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, P.E.O., Delta Kappa Gamma, Forrest City Country Club Ladies Golf Association, Garden Gate Club and the Lunch Bunch. She received her BSE from Arkansas State University and her MSE from Memphis University.

Mrs. Harrington married V.M. "Jiggie" Harrington in 1974, and he survives her along with two sons, Dave P. Hodges and Rausch Hodges, both of Forrest City; two stepdaughters, Ann Miller of Auburndale, Fla., and Eve McCutchen of West Memphis; her stepmother, Kathryn Warren Rauscher of Forrest City; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Harrington were held at 11 a.m. today at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to the Forrest City Humane Society.


John Francis Peacock

Mr. John Francis Peacock, age 63, of Heth, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the V.A. Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Mr. Peacock was the founder of Peacock Radio Service and the owner and operator of John's Peacock Company. He was a Presbyterian and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in Vietnam and the Cuban Blockade.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Peacock of Heth; two daughters, Denise Graves of Waco, Texas and Tina Greve of Maintal, Germany; three sisters, Edna C. Smith and Mary Beth Kellerman, both of Omaha, Neb., and Isabelle A. Royce of Greensburg, Ind.; three brothers, Donald Peacock of Omaha, Neb., Kenneth L. Peacock of Freemont, Neb., and William L. Peacock of Idaho Falls, Idaho.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis. Burial will follow in the Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Assocation or the First Christian Church of West Memphis.


Mary Greene Sweet

Mrs. Mary Greene Sweet, age 90, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003.

Mrs. Sweet was born Sept. 20, 1913, in Forrest City, the daughter of the late William Allen and Johnnie Horney Greene. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church where she remained active as pianist for the Philathea Sunday School Class and was a member of the afternoon circle. Mrs. Sweet was a member of the Forrest City Junior Auxiliary, a charter member of the Musical Coterie and a charter member of the Chapter BF of P.E.O. sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Webb Sweet in 1994.

Mrs. Sweet is survived by two sons, Walter Sweet and Billy Sweet, both of Forrest City; two daughters, Martha Gandy of Forrest City and Margie Walker of Birmingham, Ala., 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the First United Methodist Church in Forrest City. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

The family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Forrest City Public Library or the charity of the donor's choice.
