The Forrest City Mustangs used a 77-62 victory over Wynne Friday to get to 4-3 for the year.
In the first meeting between the two rivals this season, the Mustangs outscored the Yellowjackets 24-to-15 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Forrest City led by just five, 53-48 to start the final period.
The Yellowjackets drained 11, threes in the game but it wasn't enough to hold off the Mustangs, who placed four in double figures at Mustang Arena.
Roy Parker had a career night scoring 17 points to lead the Mustangs while Buck Braddock added 14, six of that total in the fourth period. Lorenzo Spearmon and Chris Williams finished with 10 points each.
Wynne sophomore guard Lonnie Harris led all scorers with 28 points. Harris nailed five of Wynne's 11 three pointers and he was responsible for 12 of Wynne's 16, third period points that kept the Yellowjackets close.
Both teams ended the first period locked in an 18-18 tie and the Mustangs led just 33-31 at the half.
In other boys basketball action over the weekend, it was Altheimer 57, Mountain Home 38; EPC 57, Little Rock Mills 44; Little Rock Parkview 60, Pine Bluff 39; Pulaski Robinson 68, Marion 54; Russellville 49, Jacksonville 41.
In the senior girls' game, Trina Wynne poured in 25 points to help lead the Lady Mustangs to a 61-57 win over the Lady Yellowjackets.
Wynne scored 16 of her total in the second half, hitting eight points in the third and fourth periods.
Viveca Kimble added 10 points while Shari Rogers had seven and Torrie Willis and Sequoria Grady each finished with six points.
Forrest City dropped in 12-of-19 free throws while Wynne hit 16-of-27 attempts from the foul line.
The teams were tied at 27-27 at the half before Forrest City took a 43-36 lead to start the final period.
Wynne tied the game at 43-all with a little more than five minutes to play and were within one point with three minutes left before the Lady Mustangs began to slowly pull away.
Callie Sisk had 15 points for Wynne, while Nicole Johnson had 11.
Forrest City improves to 2-4 for the year. The Lady Yellowjackets fall to 2-1 after opening the year with a pair of victories over Hughes.
The Lady Mustangs will open play Thursday at the McDonald's Shootout in Paragould when they face Poplar Bluff, Mo. at 4 p.m.
In other high school girls' games played over the weekend, Rachel Allison recorded a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead Jonesboro past Beebe 58-44 in the consolation round of the White County Medical Center Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Jonesboro (4-4) jumped out to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter and cruised to the easy 14-point victory.
*Jessica Stevens scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Lady Wildcats (3-0) routed the Lady Tigers 60-14 in Searcy.
*Sharnelle Allen scored 12 and Erin Lenarz scored 11 as the visiting Lady Tigers topped the Lady War Eagles 45-29. Fair was led by 13 points from Chasity Cotton.
*Rachel Jones paced the visiting Lady Senators (2-2) with 17 points in a victory over the Lady Patriots.
Jenna Wilson added 16, Larissa Williams 15 and Monica Adams 14 for Robinson in a 74-66 win over Marion's Lady Patriots.

Nikki Newby scored 22 points to help Cross County pin back Palestine-Wheatley 60-30 Friday in senior girls basketball.
Brooke Reddmann scored 16 for Cross County. Tonisha Wynne led the Lady Patriots with eight points while Fallon Parker added seven. Bernice Sparkman and Cara Lansford had five each.
Cross County led 15-4 after the first quarter and 30-14 at halftime and outscored the Lady Patriots 30-to-16 in the second half.
*In the senior boys' game, Adam Jackson scored 20 points as Cross County defeated Palestine-Wheatley 75-70 Friday night.
Dewayne Cook scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers for Cross County. Aaron Bowles scored 13 points, with seven assists and seven rebounds.
The Cross County junior high girls downed the P-W Junior Lady Patriots 229-24 Friday.
Keisha Stovall led P-W with 12 points while Jessica Smith and Phyllis Leak added five points each.
P-W missed 17 free throws in the game -- 11 of those chances in the second half.
