Mr. L.C. Ambrose, age 62, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Ambrose was born Sept. 3, 1940, in Forrest City, the son of Hoyt Ambrose and Bessie Gately Ambrose. He was a longtime employee of Sanyo Manufacturing Corp., a former Forrest City firefighter, a member of the United States National Guard and he was a member of Widener Baptist Church.
Mr. Ambrose is survived by his mother of Forrest City; a daughter, Tammy Taylor of Forrest City; one brother, James Ambrose of Wabash; two sisters, Ruby Brooks of Indiana and Delzie Day of Forrest City and three grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home with Rev. Dustin Lemke officiating and assisted by Rev. Bud Davis. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Wesley Lester Long, age 53, of Palestine, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Long was born Feb. 5, 1950, in Des Arc, the son of Lester Long and Marie Webb Long. He lived in St. Francis County for most of his life, was a retired truck driver, was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the Latter Day Saints.
Mr. Long married Gladys Faye Thomas in 1971, and she survives him along with one son, John Workman of South Carolina; three daughters, Kimberlie Sisson of Fordyce, Rebecca Bridges and Lesley Long both of Palestine; one brother, Allan Long of Michigan; one sister, Olivia Fiorito of Forrest City and seven grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mr. Long were held on Sunday, Feb. 9, at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Long were held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Bell Cemetery.
Mrs. Dorothy Mae McElduff, age 60, of Paragould, and formerly of Marianna, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. McElduff was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Paragould, the daughter of Albert Allen and Mae Allen. She was a housewife and a former member of Friendship Baptist Church in Marianna.
Mrs. McElduff is survived by her mother of Forrest City; her husband, Harold McElduff of Paragould; two sons, Len McElduff of Cullman, Ala. and Mark McElduff of Palestine; two daughters, Ella Harlos of Marianna and Amy Pounos of Osceola; one sister, Earline Lancaster of Forrest City; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation services for Mrs. McElduff will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. McElduff will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Home with burial following in Hughes Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Ellen Sims Wilson, age 76, of Forrest City, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Wilson was born March 17, 1926, in Cotton Plant, the daughter of James Christy Sims and Viola Darr Sims. She lived in Forrest City for most of her life, was a retired elementary school teacher for Forrest City Public Schools, was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Musical Coterie, the Garden Club, the Hipson Club in Cotton Plant and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wilson married Robert E. Wilson in 1958, and he preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by two sons, Robert Sims Wilson of New Orleans, La. and Chris E. Wilson of Searcy; one sister, Helen S. Whiting of Forrest City and one grandchild.
Visitation services for Mrs. Wilson were held on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at First United Methodist Church. Funeral Services for Mrs. Wilson were held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Hunter Cemetery in Hunter. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
