Nerine Elizabeth Goode

Mrs. Nerine Elizabeth Goode, age 85, of Arlington, Tenn., died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003.

Mrs. Goode was a homemaker, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a Matron for the Woodlawn #74 and Forrest City #531 Chapters of the EOS. She was also a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church.

Mrs. Goode is survived by her daughter, Joyce Johnson of Arlington, Tenn.; two sons, Larry C. Goode of Memphis and Malcolm Goode Jr. of Union Grove, Ala.; four brothers, C.C. Coats and C.E. Coats both of Memphis, C.A. Coats of Mesa, Ariz., and J.C. Coats of Quitman, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Goode.

Funeral services for Mrs. Goode will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Roller Family Funeral Home in Memphis. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens.

The family requests that memorials be made to the St. Francis Hospice, P.O. Box 172197, Memphis, Tenn. 38187-2197.


Luiza Spence Rucker

Mrs. Luiza Spence Rucker, age 85, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Rucker was born March 30, 1917, in Parkin, the daughter of Samuel Spence and Susie Smith Spence. She is survived by five daughters, Bertha Rucker, Carrie Godsey and Ernestine Jackson all of Rochester, N.Y., Angel Lee of Chicago, Ill. and Hatte Mae Wright of Forrest City; three sons, LeRoy Rucker of Rochester, N.Y., Joseph Rucker of Forrest City and Rueben Rucker of Jonesboro; four sisters, Caldonia Davis and Lillian Spence both of Kansas City, Mo., Carrie Mae Spence of Memphis and Theresa Lowdy of Hartford, Conn.; 52 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation services for Mrs. Rucker will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Woodhouse Mortuary from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at United Christian M.B. Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Norris Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
