Mrs. Mildred Gay Watson Kindrex, age 89, of Groesbeck, Texas,
died Sunday at the Limestone Medical Center in Texas. She had
been in the hospital for the past two days.
Mrs. Kindrex was born September 30, 1913, in Beebe, Arkansas,
and was the daughter of Henry Luther Watson and Daisy Estelle
Campbell Watson. She lived in St. Francis and Prairie Counties
most of her life. She had worked as a Dietitian for the Elementary
Schools in Forrest City, as a Seamstress for the Sewing Company
in Forrest City, and at the Vending Company in Forrest City. She
had served as a Foster Grandparent for the Mexia State School
in Mexia, Texas, and was a Baptist.
Mrs. Kindrex married Lindsay 'Penn' Penick Kindrex on October
5, 1929, and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1981. She
is survived by six daughters, Barbara Davis of Groesbeck, Texas,
Clara Hood of Bryant, Arkansas, Lorine Mason of Dothan, Alabama,
Joneth 'Joni' Hilton of Grantsburg, Illinois, Linda Gilmore of
Allen, Oklahoma, and Jannie Jones of Jasper, Texas, one brother,
Johnny Watson of Rochelle, Illinois, two sisters, Joyce Colbert
of Elkton, Florida, and Earlene Johnson of Rochelle, Illinois,
one step-daughter, Gladys Gilsdorf of Florida, twenty-nine grandchildren,
forty-six great-grandchildren, eighteen great-great-grandchildren,
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Three children preceded
her in death, Ruby Puckett, Henry Kindrex and Tillman Kindrex.
She had nine brothers and sisters who preceded her in death, Bertha
Smith, Ozie Cavaness, Vida Watson, Modean Harris, Lois Crouch,
Bessie Nell Finney, Faye Burton, Leroy Watson, and J. W. Watson.
She had two step-sons, Delbert Kindrex and Eligah Kindrex who
preceded her in death, and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
who also preceded her in death.
Services for Mrs. Kindrex will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 1:00 p.m., Thursday with burial in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in West Memphis. Visitation will be Wednesday evening 6:00 till 8:00 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Michael Lynn Stevenson, age 37, of Oxford, Miss., died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003.
Mr. Stevenson, born Aug. 17, 1965, in Forrest City, was the son of Sid Stevenson and Jane Staggs Stevenson. He was a carpenter and a Baptist and had been a resident of St. Francis County until he moved to Oxford, Miss., three months ago.
In 1997, Mr. Stevenson married Monica McElya and she survives him along with a son , Jeremy Stevenson of the home; two daughters, Cindy Stevenson and Kayla Stevenson, both of the home; his parents; a brother, Sid Stevenson Jr. of Forrest City, and three sisters, Penny Morris, Mary Eaton and Mildred Garza, all of Forrest City. He was preceded in death by two sons Joshua McElya and Michael Lynn Stevenson Jr..
Visitation services for Mr. Stevenson will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Graveside services for Mr. Stevenson will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at the Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City.
