Elmira Logan

Mrs. Elmira Logan, age 98, of Forrest City, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Logan was born Jan. 16, 1905, in Pontotoc, Miss. She is survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends. Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by a son, James A. Logan, in 1983.

Visitation services for Mrs. Logan will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2003, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2003, at noon, at Macedonia Baptist Church near Madison with Rev. L.Z. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Scott Bond Cemetery in Madison.


James Anthony Summers Sr.

Mr. James Anthony "Tony" Summers Sr., age 43, of Earle, died Monday, July 7, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Summers, born Oct. 17, 1959, in Abilene, Texas, was the son of William Naul Summers and Delzie Ambrose Day. He lived in Forrest City for most of his life and had been in management of food stores. He attended the Assembly of God Church.

In 2002, Mr. Summers married Leesa Wallace and she survives him along with one son, James Summers Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Susan Peregory of Memphis; a step-son, Michael Morris of California; a step-daughter, Kimberly Anne Morris of Tennessee; his parents; his maternal grandmother, Bessie Ambrose; three brothers, Carroll Summers of Marion, William "Will" Summers of Forrest City and Ben Day Jr., of West Memphis; one sister, Jeana Wilson of Forrest City and two grandchildren.

Visitation services for Mr. Summers will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Steven's Chapel. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
