Physicals held; FCity drills begin next week

By FRED CONLEY

The Forrest City Mustang football staff took another step closer to summer drills today by holding athletic physicals at Mustang Field House.

At 9 a.m., Willis was in his office, on the phone, making certain this season's group of Mustangs were up and on their way.

After all, no physical means lost practice time once drills begin next Monday.

The Mustangs have one month to prepare for their season opener against Wynne on Sept. 5.

Willis says there is a lot of work to be done between the start of practice and the first game, even though most of the players have been working out regularly during the summer.

This morning's physicals brought most of the Forrest City coaches to the athletic complex, including the junior high staff, headed up by Rich Trail.

Junior high players who have had their physicals, can pick up equipment Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week at the junior high field house.

The Junior Mustangs start practice on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 1:30 p.m., with the season opener scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 4, when they host Brinkley.

The junior high Mustangs will play a 10-game schedule this season.

The seventh and eighth-grade football teams open their season on Tuesday, Sept. 9, when they host West Memphis East.
