A second charge of negligent homicide has been filed against a Forrest City woman involved in the death of a Marianna couple in June.

According to Deputy St. Francis County Prosecutor Chris Morledge, Carolyn Williams, 39, 340 Turner Circle Apt. 11, will face a second charge of negligent homicide along with charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to yield to a left turn, and driving with an expired driver's license, following the deaths of John Jones and Danita Jones of Marianna after a motorcycle accident on June 15 near the intersection of South Washington and Rosser streets.

The second charge was added to the original charge after Danita Jones died on June 26, from injuries she suffered in the accident.

"The trooper that handled the original accident added the second charge after the death of Mrs. Jones to the original report as an addendum," said Morledge.

Williams, who is currently free on $25,000 bail, allegedly turned in front of the Joneses as they were traveling southbound on Highway 1.

Jones and her husband John Jones, 49, were traveling on the couple's 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a 1993 Oldsmobile traveling northbound on Rosser Street, driven by Williams turned in front of them. John Jones was pronounced dead soon after the accident.

Danita Jones was airlifted from Baptist Memorial Hospital Forrest City to the Elvis Presley Regional Medical Center in Memphis where she died 11 days later.

If Williams is convicted of the charges of negligent homicide, she could be sentenced to three to 10 years in prison on each count. Williams could also face up to a $1,000 fine on the DWI charge and jail time according to what was registered on her breathalyzer test.

Lawsuit filed in summer wreck

A lawsuit has been filed by the family of a man killed in an accident on a county road last year.

Kenneth Edward Long died in June of 2002 when the vehicle he was diving was struck by a semi tractor-trailer driven by Terry Lynn Taylor.

The suit names Taylor and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. as defendants. The suit claims that Taylor was at fault for the accident. The insurance company was covering the Pine Tree Experimental Station, which employed Taylor.

The suit asks for "an amount to be determined by a jury."
