Mr. Thomas Edward Harris, age 65, of Forrest City, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Harris was born Dec. 18, 1937, in Forrest City, the son of Robert Harris Sr. and Murtha Davis Harris. He was a veteran and a mechanic.
Mr. Harris is survived by three daughters, Robin L. Stanton and Carolie Harris both of Providence, R.I., and Katrina E. Harris of Forrest City; two sons, Malcolm L. Harris of Dallas, Texas, and Marcus A. Harris of Searcy; his mother, Murtha Harris Ellis of Toledo, Ohio; four sisters, Gloria McDonald of Toledo, Ohio, Annie Goodwin of Madison, and Betty Lovelace and Joyce Brown both of Little Rock; four brothers, James Harris of Forrest City, Theodis Harris of Little Rock, Henry Harris of St. Louis, Mo., Rupert Ellis Sr. of Madison; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation services for Mr. Harris will be held at Woodhouse
Mortuary on Tuesday, June 10, 2003, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
and a wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at 11 a.m.
at Christ Episcopal Church with Robert Newman officiating. Burial
will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mildred Faye Bieber Leamon, age 78, of Forrest City, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Leamon was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Pine Tree, the daughter of Aaron Thomas and Dora Ellis Thomas. She made her home in the Forrest City area for all of her life. She was self employed and was a member of the Pine Tree Baptist Church.
Mrs. Leamon is survived by a daughter, Linda Brazeale; a son, Shelly Bieber of Forrest City; a sister, Noma Adams of Forrest City; a brother, Ellis Thomas of Forrest City; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 9, 2003, at 2 p.m.
at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial
followed in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. William A. "Arkie" Vaughn, age 56, of Sandstone, Minn., died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Pine Medical Center in Sandstone, Minn.
Mr. Vaughn was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Osceola, the son of William A. Vaughn and Opal Franks Vaughn. He had lived in Sandstone, Minn. for the past 25 years, and was a journeyman lineman and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 34 years. He was a retired line superintendent with L.E. Myers Company and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Vaughn married Janice M. Hickle in 1979, and she survives him along with a daughter, Lindsay N. Vaughn of Sandstone, Minn.; a step daughter, Amber Johnson of Duluth, Minn.; four sons, Billy Wayne Vaughn of Walnut Ridge, William Vaughn of Gordonsville, Tenn., Billy Gene Vaughn of California, and Michael Vaughn of Waverly, Tenn.; five sisters, Anita Miller of Dallas, Texas, Kaye Christian of Tennessee Ridge, Tenn., Sandy Covey of Erin, Tenn., and Ann Vaughn Banks and Renee Homewood both of Forrest City; three brothers, Jim Vaughn and Thomas Vaughn both of Forrest City, and L.H. "Pete" Vaughn of Ackley, Iowa; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by both his parents and a sister, Rebecca Dale Vaughn Marcum.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 9, 2003, at the Living Hope Christian Center in Pine City, Minn. with Pastor Corey Carlson officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Friesland, Minn. under the direction of Tatting-Metven Funeral Home in Hinckley, Minn.
