Ethel Boganey

Mrs. Ethel Boganey, age 86, of Forrest City, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.

Mrs. Boganey, born April 19, 1917, in Forrest City, was a retired school teacher. She is survived by four daughters, Oneida Davis of Champaigne, Ill., Dorothy Jean Wilson, Beatrice Boganey and Cordelia Houston, all of Muskegon, Mich.; a sister, Sederia Cox of Forrest City; a stepson, Curtis Boganey of Minnesota; two grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation services for Mrs. Boganey will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. A second visitation service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2003, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lane Chapel CME Church. Funeral services will be held following the Thursday visitation at Lane Chapel CME Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ronald A. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.


James Edward "Jim" McCoy

Mr. James Edward "Jim" McCoy, age 63, of Antioch, Calif., died Friday, May 31, in Antioch.

Mr. McCoy, born Jan. 2, 1940, in Forrest City, was the son of Luke and Mirtha McCoy. He was a graduate of the Arkansas AM&N University in Pine Bluff and moved to California in 1969 where he began a career in the hotel business. Mr. McCoy served as a Convention Service Manager and retired from the Argent Hotel as a Banquet Manager where after 20 years. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, Calif.

In 1998, he married Cynthia Dillon McCoy and she survives him along with four sons, Derrick, Reginald, McBurney and Corey; three daughters, Cornetta, Mariya and Angela; six sisters, Ceola McCoy, Corraine McCoy and Brenda Grubbs, all of Forrest City, Rose Marie Stanton, Joyce Ann Bolden and Rosa Lee Chism, all of Chicago, Ill.; five brothers, M.C. McCoy of Forrest City, Joe McCoy of San Francisco, Calif., S.T. McCoy of St. Louis, Mo., Robert McCoy of Cleveland, Ohio and Andrew McCoy of Antioch, Calif.; seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bernice Norman and a son, Errol McCoy.

Funeral services for Mr. McCoy were held on Monday, June 9, 2003, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Calif.
