Battle of 'Autos' belongs to Mr. T

Bambino team moves to 6-0 for the year

Mr. T Auto held off a scrappy Cochran Auto team Friday and escaped with an 8-7 win in Bambino 9-10 League play at the Sports Complex.

The victory leaves Mr. T at 6-0 for the year and in control of first place.

Cochran Auto falls to 4-2 and into a tie for second place with Joey's Muffler, an 8-5 winner over Sanyo Friday.

Mr. T Auto scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to take an 8-3 lead before Cochran rallied for four runs in the top of the fourth to get within one run at 8-7 before the final out was made, leaving a pair of runners stranded.

Cochran got single runs from Jarvis Bolden, Scott Gracey, Marcus Scott, Xavier Banks, Ladarius Townsend, Kevin Sullivan and Brandyn Granberry while Mr. T was led by Ryan Green's two runs and Devin Green, Davyon McKinney, Chatman Tucker, Cadeem Carter, Anthony Guyton and Brandon Morris, who scored single runs.

In other Bambino games played Friday, derrick CPA moved into third place in the league with an 11-8 win over National Carpet One and Giffin's Grins coasted past Arkansas Electric 10-4.

nIn the Minor League pitching machine schedule Friday, Easley Law Firm won for the first time this season, putting away JB Sports 13-7.

Food Giant was awarded a 1-0 forfeit win over Giffin's Grins.

Easley got three runs each from Seth Parker and Cameron Smith in the victory while Larren Freeman and Alex Lindsey scored twice and Logan Laird, Demond Watson and Aaron Cole added single runs.

Broderick Johnson and Brandon Johnson scored two runs each for JB Sports.

In girls' softball play over the weekend, the 10-under slow pitch league played a regular schedule of games on Friday and then returned on Saturday to play a full schedule of make up games.

The big winner was Food Giant, who won all three of their weekend games and improved to 7-1 overall for the year.

Food Giant leads the American Division side of the 10-under league.

The team downed Title Company 13-0 Friday night and came back on Saturday to hand Stevens Funeral Home its first loss of the year, a 12-7 decision and then knocked off True Value 13-3.

Food Giant was led over the weekend by KeKe King, Deidra White, Aminnica Gardner, Lachassity Phillips, Raven Harrell, Ariel Norment and LaQuita Harris.

Dr. Schwartz remains in second place in the American side, at 6-2 for the year.

Walker Insurance, Southern Furniture, Dr. Schwartz, Forrest City Bank and Stevens all finished the week ride with 2-1 marks.

Walker and Stevens, locked in a tie for the lead in the National Division side of the league, went head-to-head Friday.

Stevens moved into sole possession of first place in the National Division side of the league with a 12-7 win over Walker.

Stevens improves to 7-1 while Walker slips to 6-2.

Title Company won for the first time this season, taking a 6-4 win over True Value on Saturday after suffering a 13-0 loss to Food Giant Friday and a 12-6 loss to Walker on Saturday.

The 10-under league will return to action Tuesday night with six scheduled dates left in the season.

Forrest City will host the girls' district tournaments the weekend of June 13-15 for the 10-under, 12-under and 16-under leagues.

*The adult men will compete this coming weekend in a USSSA slow pitch tournament to be held at the Sports Complex.

The tournament, which is expected to field close to 40 teams, will begin Friday night and run through Sunday.

At the same time, youth boys' baseball teams will be competing in the Forrest City Baseball Bash, which will be played Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8, at the Sports Complex.

Divisions will include 8-under through 14-under teams.

The youth boys tournament will use Cal Ripken rules.

As of press time, there was no official word as to whether or not tonight's scheduled games would be played at the Complex.

Tonight's schedule features the girls' 12 and 16-under fast pitch leagues, the adult men softball league, the Bambino 11-12 League, Minor League and Junior Babe Ruth.
