Mildred Blanche Ellison

Mrs. Mildred Blanche Ellison, age 84, of West Helena, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at her home. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Ellison is survived by two daughters, Linda Rice of Widener and Nellie Hopper of West Helena and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Tubby" Ellison.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, March 8, 2003 in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Sour Lake, Texas. Farmer Funeral Home of Beaumont, Texas, was in charge of all arrangements.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society.


Kathryn "Kitty" Graham

Mrs. Kathryn "Kitty" Graham, age 65, of Forrest City, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Mrs. Graham, born Jan. 7, 1938, in Dewitt, was the daughter of Fred Yates and Gladys Davis. She made her home in Forrest City for all of her life and was a factory worker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Graham is survived by two sons, Michael Gray of Wynne and Charles Gray of Forrest City; two daughters, Kathy Shipp and Tracey Parkinson, both of Forrest City; her mother; three sisters, Nancy Knight of Houston, Texas, Marie Sauls and Dorothy Silski, both of Caldwell; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation services for Mrs. Graham will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Steven's Chapel with Bro. Norman Like officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.


Virgil Jordan

Mr. Virgil Jordan, age 90, of Forrest City, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Jordan was born May 28, 1912, in Nashville, the son of Robert Jordan and Betty Ford Jordan. He was a retired floral designer.

Mr. Jordan was preceded in death in 1974 by his wife Cornelia Wright. He is survived by 10 daughters, Aline Williams, Barbara Phillips, Loistene Jordan, Virtle Jordan, Margaret Jordan, Floye Smith and Bernice Wilburn, all of Forrest City, Janet Mathews of Toledo, Ohio, Joann Williams and Virgina Jordan both of Anaheim, Calif.; one brother, CleAuther Jordan of Compton, Calif.; two sisters, Ruthie Mae Moore of Forrest City and Arleatha Allen of Benton; 24 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Jordan will be held on Monday, March 10, 2003, from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Beth Salem M.B. Church with Odell McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.


Mavis Walraven

Mrs. Mavis Walraven, age 71, of Mason, Tenn., died Friday, March 7, 2003.

Mrs. Walraven, born Oct. 22, 1931, in Pontotoc, Miss., was the daughter of Geroge Gilmer and Mary C. Terry Gilmer. She lived in the Parkin and West Memphis area for most of her life and was a sales clerk with Wal-Mart. Mrs. Walraven was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caldwell.

In 1947, Mrs. Walraven married Grover Walraven and he preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Walraven of Mason, Tenn.; three sons, Bill Walraven and Donald Walraven, both of Memphis, and Alden Walraven of Forrest City; four brothers, Lee Gilmer of Memphis, Therrell Gilmer of Arlington, Texas, Harold Gilmer of Colt and Bobby Gilmer of Wynne; two sisters, Marylynn Busby and Linda Cosgrove, both of West Memphis; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Walraven was also preceded in death by a son, Glenn Walraven in 1950; two sisters, Laverne Moore and Beulah Pounders and one brother, Gene Gilmer.

Visitation services for Mrs. Walraven will be held on Monday, March 10, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Steven's Chapel with Rev. Dustin Lemke officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
