Mrs. Kathryn "Kitty" Graham, age 65, of Forrest City, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Graham, born Jan. 7, 1938, in Dewitt, was the daughter of Fred Yates and Gladys Davis Elenborg. She made her home in Forrest City for all of her life and was a factory worker and a Baptist.
Mrs. Graham is survived by three sons, Michael Gray of Wynne, Johnny Shipp of Benton and Charles Gray of Forrest City; two daughters, Kathy Shipp and Tracey Parkinson, both of Forrest City; her mother; three sisters, Nancy Knight of Houston, Texas, Marie Sauls and Dorothy Silski, both of Caldwell; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mrs. Graham will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Steven's Chapel with Bro. Norman Like officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. James "Red" Lewis, age 75, of Palestine, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Lewis was born March 21, 1927, in Sedgwick, the son of Tal McQual Lewis and Ida Mae Lewis. He lived in Palestine all of his life, was a heavy equipment operator and a Baptist.
Mr. Lewis married Nora Russell in 1950, and she survives him along with three sons, Dale Lewis and Lloyd Lewis both of Palestine, and David Lewis of Florida; six daughters, Christina Mae Caskey, Tabitha Lewis and Karen Lewis all of Palestine, Denise Parker of Hunter, Lila Marie Lewis of Newport, and Deborah Lewis of Minnesota; one brother, Tal Lewis of Portia; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Lewis will be held on Friday, March 7, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stevens Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Whittaker Cemetery in Hoxie.
Mrs. Amanda Bailey Meals, age 98, of Helena, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Helena Regional Medical Center in Helena.
Mrs. Meals was born Dec. 30, 1904, in Duck Hill, Miss., the daughter of James Edward Bailey and Cherry Olivia Burt Bailey. She was a homemaker, and owner and manager of the Forrest City Garage. She was also a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Forrest City.
Mrs. Meals married Roy L. Meals in 1925, and he preceded her in death in 1979. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Wood of Earle and Delorese Baker of West Helena; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Meals were held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Master Julian Alexander Threat, age three weeks and five days, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.
Master Threat, born Feb. 12, 2003, in Hattiesburg, Miss., was the son of Michael Threat and Heather Like Threat and was a Methodist. He is survived by his parents, of Petal, Miss.; his paternal grandparents Jack and Helen Threat of Petal, Miss.; his maternal grandparents, Alvie and Sharon Like, both of Colt and his maternal great-grandmother, Inez Weaver of Louisiana.
Visitation services for Master Threat will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at the House of Prayer in Colt at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery.
