Mrs. Beatrice Hollis, age 93, of Marianna, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Hollis was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Winfield, Ala., the daughter of Will Weeks and Mary Etta Couch Weeks. She lived in St. Francis and Lee Counties for most of her life and was a housewife.
Mrs. Hollis was married to Will Hollis and he preceded her in death in 1967. She is survived by one son, Albert Lee Matthews of Alabama; one sister, Myrle Dean White of Marianna; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Alton Weeks.
Visitation services for Mrs. Hollis will be held Thursday,
March 20, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral
Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2003,
at 11 a.m. at Steven's Chapel. Burial will follow in Forrest Park
Cemetery.
Mrs. Vera McNairy Walker, age 87, of Madison, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Forrest City.
Mrs. Walker was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Millington, Tenn., the daughter of Sherman McNairy and Eluiza Cotton McNairy Walker. She is survived by three daughters, Iola Walker of Chicago, Ill., Rosie Walker of Madison, Charlene Fertha of Forrest City; one son U.L. Walker of Forrest City; one brother, Jewell McNairy of Forrest City; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation services for Mrs. Walker will be held on Friday, March 21, 2003, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone M.B. Church with Rev. Leon Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
