Mrs. Carrie Matthews Bogard, age 96, of Goodwin, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Goodwin Church of God in Christ. She was born on May 25, 1906, in Augusta, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ida Matthews.
Mrs. Bogard was preceded in death by her husband, T.S. Bogard. She was also preceded in death by three children; four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by four sons, Willie Bogard of Palestine, Wesley Bogard of Marianna, Arthur Bogard of Forrest City and Andrew Bogard of Rochester, N.Y.; six daughters, Willie Mae Taylor and Easter Garrett both of Marianna, Mildren Harris of Forrest City, Bernice Lay of Widener, and Brenda Hicks and Leola Patton both of Goodwin and a host of grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bogard were held on Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the Goodwin Church of God in Christ with burial following in Goodwin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McNeal Funeral Home, Inc., of Brinkley.
Bro. Norman William Like Sr., age 47, of Colt, died Friday, March 21, 2003, in Marvell.
Bro. Like was born June 25, 1955, the son of George Andrew Like and Mary Belle Virgin Like. He was a lifelong resident of Colt, a self-employed logger and served as pastor of the House of Prayer Pentecostal Church in Colt for the past 17 years.
Bro. Like married Wanda L. Hill Like in 1977, and she survives him along with three sons, Joshua Like, Norman Like Jr. and John Like all of Colt; five brothers, Jimmy Like, Roy Like, Alvie Like and Noal Lynn Like all of Colt, and Wayne Like of Forrest City; four sisters, Betty Middleton of Wynne, Ruby McCrary of Forrest City, Imogene Webb of Colt and Cathy Walls of Heber Springs and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Wanda Mikell Like.
Visitation services for Bro. Like will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne with Bro. Jess Blind of Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery.
Mrs. Peggy Sue Wyatt, age 61, of Brinkley, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Wyatt was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Haynes, the daughter of Willard and Eva Inez Parrish Presley. She was a retired nurse and member of the Broadmoor Baptist Church in Brinkley.
Mrs. Wyatt is survived by her mother of Forrest City; her husband, James Wyatt of Brinkley; one daughter, Tonya Sandage of Brinkley; six sisters, Norma Jean Davis and Barbara Biddle both of Forrest City, Louise Young of Hernando, Miss., Betty French of Palestine, Donna Held of Haynes and Elizabeth Oxner of Olive Branch, Miss., and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Leon Presley.
Visitation services for Mrs. Wyatt will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at 2 p.m. in Morgan Chapel with Bro. Jim Owens of the Broadmoor Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
