The Forrest City Lady Mustangs handed out postseason honors recently to seven players -- two seniors, two juniors and three sophomores.
Senior forward Caronica Randle was named to the AAAAA-East All-Conference and All-Academic teams and is an All-Star nominee.
Senior Katrina Floyd, who recently signed with Crowley's Ridge College, was named to the All-Conference Second Team, along with sophomores Sequoria Grady and Shari Rogers.
Juniors Teela Lee and Chrystal Summage were named to the All-Academic team along with sophomore Torrie Willis, Randle, Floyd and Rogers.
"Both Floyd and Randle brought their best to the court," Forrest City Coach Sue Jayroe said. "Floyd developed into a great rebounder for us and used her leaping abilities to give an added dimension to the team. She has come a long way since only wanting to be the water girls in junior high. Randle was our leader in scoring and our floor leader and she will be missed along with Floyd and my other three seniors, Ebony Towner, Kanetra Pendleton and Erika Haggans."
About her juniors, Jayroe said she has already promoted them and they are already her seniors.
Summage and Lee along with junior Kim Ursery, who didn't make the postseason teams, are already beginning to show leadership qualifications for next year.
"I'm already seeing that," Jayroe said. "They are working hard to improve their game and they know what areas they need to improve. They have had two years of almost getting to the state tournament and almost isn't good enough for them."
Both Summage and Lee were part-time starters during the season for Jayroe.
Sophomores Grady and Rogers are the returning starters for the Lady Mustangs next season and Jayroe said neither has reached their full potential as a player yet.
"I'm expecting those two to help carry the load for the next two seasons along with Willis," Jayroe said. They are all academically sound and that's important."
The Lady Mustangs finished the season at 12-15 and 8-6 in the conference, one game out of fourth place and one game short of reaching the state tournament.
