The Forrest City Lady Mustangs opened the 2003 fast-pitch softball season Thursday with more of a thud than a bang. And too many errors.
Hosting Cabot in a AAAAA-East Conference doubleheader at the Sports Complex, the Lady Mustangs lost both the varsity and junior varsity games by a combined score of 34-to-3.
"It was Cabot," Main said. "What more do I need to say."
Cabot won the varsity game 16-1 and then took the junior varsity game 18-2.
In the varsity game, Cabot scored three in the top of the first inning and Forrest City pushed its only run across the plate in the bottom of the first when Kanetra Pendleton singled and scored on a base hit by Rachael Sims.
Cabot made it 5-1 after two innings and then exploded for eight runs in the top of the third.
After Pendleton's first-inning base hit, the Lady Mustangs went hitless over the last four innings and had only one more base runner.
Stacey Gracey pitched the varsity game.
In the JV game, Alicia Kennedy and Amanda Renigar scored the Forrest City runs, in the bottom of the second inning in an 18-2 loss to the Lady Panthers.
Cabot scored two in the first, 10 in the second and six in the third to end the game under the league's mercy rule.
Leigh Anna Taylor pitched the complete game for the JV Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Mustangs will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Blytheville.
The Lady Mustang team includes six seniors, three juniors, six sophomores and seven freshmen this season.
The annual Razorback Rally has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 16, at the Forrest City Civic Center.
University of Arkansas football coach Houston Nutt remains as the featured speaker at this year's Razorback Rally.
The rally, originally scheduled for February, was postponed due to a round of winter weather that hit the state.
The Rally is once again being sponsored by the East Central Arkansas Razorback Club.
Former Forrest City Coach Harold Horton and former UA Razorback baseball coach Norm DeBriyn will be at the Rally as well.
Tickets are available now from several local merchants or from Billingsley by calling 633-4941.
Tickets prices for the Rally are $15 for adults and $7.50 for kids ages 12 and under.
The fourth annual Harold Horton Award will once again be announced at this year's Rally. The Horton Award is given to the one Arkansas student-athlete who best serves the community during his UA career.
Plaques in honor of all four Horton Award recipients will be placed on the Hall of Honor at Mustang Arena.
The rally will begin at 6 p.m., with a social hour and a catered dinner 7 p.m.
A silent auction will be held and drawings will be held for door prizes during the Rally.

A "female Dennis Rodman."
That's how Crowley's Ridge Basketball Coach Jason Elms described Forrest City's Katrina Floyd. That's on the court not off the court.
"She's a hard worker at practice and in game situations," Elms said. "What attracted me most was her ability to play defense and to rebound, a lot like Rodman. I think she will develop as a scoring threat but right now, we need her defense."
Floyd signed with Crowley's Ridge College this morning in a brief ceremony held at Forrest City High School.
Elms, who is losing all but two members of his women's team, says the possibilities are very high for Floyd to gain a starting spot next season as a freshman.
Floyd is the daughter of Stanley and Beverly Floyd of Forrest City and the younger sister of former Mustang player and FCHS graduate Stanley Floyd.
Monday is the deadline to sign youths up for the Forrest City softball and baseball summer leagues.
Youth league fees before Monday are $15 for youths living inside the Forrest City city limits and $25 for those living outside the city limits. After Monday, the fees increase by $5 and youths will be placed on teams at random.
