Violet Orena Laws

Mrs. Violet Orena Laws, age 76, of Forrest City, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Crestpark Retirement Center in Forrest City.

Mrs. Laws was born June 15, 1926, in Marble Hill, Mo., the daughter of Mae Coleda Schrock Lincoln and Tivis John Lincoln. She made her home in Forrest City most of her life, was a retired secretary and a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.

Mrs. Laws married James Forrest Laws in 1943, and he preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by four sons, James Forrest Laws Jr. of Memphis, Darryl Lincoln Laws of Little Rock, and Leonard Leon Laws and John Dell both of Forrest City; two sisters, Verma Jean Herbert of Forrest City and Virginia Dell Tucker of Hot Springs; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Leon Lincoln of Forrest City in 1966.

Visitation for Mrs. Laws will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Stevens Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with Rev. Berlon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery.
