The last of the unbeaten teams in the Bambino 11-12 League fell Thursday night.

Pearson Insurance let a 4-0 lead slip away when Wholesale Metal rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 5-4 win.

Wholesale Metal improves to 5-1 in the league and moves into a three-way toe for first place with Pearson and Lucas trucking, a 5-3 winner Thursday over Rideout Lumber.

Pearson scored one run in the top of the fourth and added two in the fifth to lead 3-0. They plated a run in the top of the sixth to build their 4-0 lead.

In other Bambino games Thursday, Lucas had to score three times in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the win over Rideout.

Rideout led 3-2 before Lucas rallied for the come-from-behind win.

Taco Bell rolled over Houser Thursday 15-1 and improved to 4-2 in the league, good enough for second place.

Vaccaro scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to nip H&H 9-8.

The Bambino 9-10 League takes the field tonight.

*In Minor League play Thursday, T&J Properties stayed perfect for the year with a 21-0 win over Easley Law.

T&J is 5-0 for the year.

Food Giant scored a single run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Lion's Club 7-6 Thursday night.

*In Junior Babe Ruth play Cochran Auto downed Taylor Glass 15-6 and Freeman handed Rotary Club a 15-7 loss to keep pace with Union Planter's Bank.

Both Cochran and Freeman are 4-2 for the year while Taylor Glass slips to 3-3.

Union's game against Twillies Tigers ended in a pitching controversy and the official ruling has not yet been made.

* In the adult men's softball league, Barnes Timber and Gym 2000 stayed unbeaten and improved to 5-0 Thursday night.

Barnes got past Kerby's 20-18 and Gym 2000 downed Morgan 25-21.

Food Giant slipped past Boar's Head 12-9 and Poison held off the Bulldogs 12-11 to round out the schedule.

There are no games scheduled in any of the leagues for Monday night, in observance of Memorial Day.

Play will resume on Tuesday.

Saturday, May 31, has been scheduled as a make up day for most of the leagues.

Girls' Softball

Airtherm scored their five-run limit in each of the first three innings and added a single run in the fourth to put away Giffin's Grins 16-5 in girls' 12-under fast pitch softball Thursday.

Airtherm stands at 6-0 for the year.

Crowley's moved into a two-way tie for third place with a 12-7 win over Children's Clinic. Both Crowley's and Children's are 3-3 for the year.

Food Giant took over sole possession of second place in the league with a 13-7 win over Dr. Beasley.

*In the 16-under girls' fast pitch softball league, Clay Funeral Home picked up their first win of the year by handing Sanyo their first loss of the year.

Clay snapped a 9-9 tie by scoring twice in the sixth inning to secure an 11-9 win.

Dr. St. John improved to 2-3 for the year by handing Times-Herald a 10-9 setback.

Times-Herald led 9-6 before St. John rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to get the win.

Blue-White Scrimmage

Forrest City Mustang Coach Donnie Willis gave his team an "8" following Thursday's Blue-White Scrimmage held at Sam Smith Stadium.

"It was an 8 on a scale of 1-to-10 and 10 being the best," Willis said. "We saw a lot of good things from the younger players and that's what we were looking for. We knew what the returning upper classmen could do."

The Mustang coaching staff held a draft Wednesday to divide the two teams into what they hoped were "fairly equal squads." For most of the scrimmage, that's exactly how it played out.

The Blue team finally began to dominate offensively midway through the scrimmage after the White team showed it's defensive metal early on.

The scrimmage was the final one for the Mustangs before semester tests begin to end the school year. Willis said the next few days will be spent evaluating the players "one-on-one."
