Mr. Jim Alderson, age 77, of Forrest City, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Alderson was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Forrest City, the son of James P. Alderson and Katie O. Smith Alderson. He lived in Alaska for 15 years and was the owner of Alderson Lumber Company for 40 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Mr. Alderson married Donna Marie Wallace in 1964 and she survives him along with a son, Michael Alderson of Forrest City; two daughters, Lori Alderson of Forrest City and Debra Jennings of West Memphis; a brother, Johnny Alderson of Tuscon, Ariz.; a sister, Annette Edwards of Benton and three grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Alderson was held on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003,
in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services were held
on Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church
and burial followed in McDaniel Cemetery.
Charles David Byard III, an infant, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at the Med in Memphis.
Byard, born Oct. 5, 2003, was the infant son of Melanie Lawson Golden and Charles David Byard. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Pat and Marion Lawson of Colt and Charles and Linda Byard of Florida.
Memorial services for Byard will be held on Wednesday, Oct.
15, 2003, at 5:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home with
Rev. J.T. Baskins officiating.
Mrs. Christine Elizabeth Cothran, age 83, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis.
Mrs. Cothran was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Lee County. She was a housewife and a member of Ragland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Cothran is survived by a son, John Cothran of Forrest City; two daughters, Diamond Louise Schluntz of Indiana and Betty Pauline Wolfe of Batesville; a brother, Tobaman Cothran of California; three sisters, Carinne Linnanto, Sally Castaneda and Sue Margerstern; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Cothran will be held on Monday, Oct. 13,
2003, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at 10
a.m. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home with Bro. Robert White
officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Albert Grady Thurmond, age 70, of Colt, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Thurmond was born July 6, 1933, in Des Arc, the daughter of George Mallory and Ruth Bernice Nesbitt Thurmond. He was a retired machinist for Hoist Manufacturing and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Thurmond is survived by two sons, William Earl Thurmond of Wyoming and Charles Martin Thurmond of Forrest City; a brother, George A. Thurmond of Forrest City and three sisters, R. Christine Irby of Nevada, C. Dean Birch of Russellville and Margaret Andrews of Wyoming.
Graveside services for Mr. Thurmond were held on Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at 2 p.m., in Bell Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
