Myrtle "Bobo" Hill Hutchison

Mrs. Myrtle "Bobo" Hill Hutchison, age 91, of Forrest City, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.

Mrs. Hutchison was born Jan. 8, 1912, in Lee County, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hill and Esther Hendricks Hill. She made her home in Forrest City for most of her life. She was retired from Reltoc Manufacturing, a member of the Happy Dayers, the Caldwell Seniors and the Forrest City Church of God.

Mrs. Hutchison is survived by one daughter, Lois Spivey Ford of Forrest City; two brothers, Hackler Hill of Heber Springs and Bobby Hill of Forrest City; two sisters, Margaret Gracey and Patricia Gill both of Heber Springs; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, five brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the Forrest City Church of God. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to the Calvary Christian School or The Gideons.


Oscar Mathews

Mr. Oscar Mathews, of Palestine, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Palestine. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


Herbert E. "Red" Neighbors

Mr. Herbert E. "Red" Neighbors, age 89, of Wynne, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mr. Neighbors was born March 27, 1914, in Pangburn, the son of Alfred E. and Ava Pearl Knowlton Neighbors. He was a resident of Letona and Fulton, Miss. before returning to Wynne. He worked as a Service Technician for Peoples Implement Company in Hughes for over 30 years until retiring in the early 1980's. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II, and was a retired volunteer fireman in Hughes, a Mason and Knights Templer for over 60 years. Mr. Neighbors also was recognized in 2002 by having his name included on the Veterans Wall of Honor in Forrest City and was presented with a high school diploma from Forrest City High School.

Mr. Neighbors is survived by two sons, Herbert Neighbors of Forrest City and Teddy Neighbors of Fletcher, Okla.; a daughter, Rhonda Grantham of Wynne; three brothers, Hershel Neighbors of Pocahontas, Homer Neighbors of Bee Branch and Leonard Neighbors of Denison, Texas; a sister, Ruby Shaffer of Pocahontas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Evelyn Barnes in 1984.

Visitation for Mr. Neighbors will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Wynne Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Wealey officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Letona, at 2 p.m.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Big B Baptist Church in Nettleton, Miss; the Wynne Baptist Church; Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Letona or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Wynne.


Steve Timmons

Mr. Steve Timmons, age 41, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mr. Timmons was born April 6, 1962, in Phoenix, Ariz., the son of John Timmons and Sue Ford. He had made his home in Forrest City for the past 12 years and was a professional tree trimmer.

Mr. Timmons married Sherry Gray in 1981, and she survives him along with three daughters, Myndi Greenhill of Forrest City, Tamra Timmons of Guam and Tanya Timmons of Forrest City; a son, Paul Timmons of Cherry Valley; his mother of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother Albert Timmons of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Peggy Willis of Oregon and Lisa Timmons of Missouri; and four grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Timmons will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at Stevens Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.


"Mother" Girtie Lee Weaver

Mrs. "Mother" Girtie Lee Weaver, age 77, of Goodwin, died Sunday, Oct., 19, 2003, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

Mrs. Weaver was born Dec. 12, 1925, in the Palestine/Goodwin community, the daughter of Elder Jessie Smith Sr. and Mattie Smith.

Mrs. Weaver is survived by eight sons, Herman Weaver of Goodwin, Cleodis Weaver and Benjamin Weaver both of Memphis, Lafet Weaver and Dwight Weaver of Fort Worth, Texas, Anthony Weaver of Little Rock, Jimmy Weaver of Forrest City and Ricky Weaver of Brandon, Miss.; five daughters, Venita Broadnax and Mattie Weaver both of Goodwin, Henrietta Nelson of Pine Bluff, Neashall Brown of Jacksonville and Susan Vasser of Fort Worth, Texas. Also, five brothers, Albert D. Smith and Robert Smith both of Goodwin, Jessie Smith Jr., Daniel Smith and Jeff Smith all of St. Louis, Mo.; four sisters, Rilla Brown of Goodwin, Lucille Smith, Delores Smith and Mary Lee Smith all of St. Louis, Mo.; 39 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Weaver Jr. in 1979.

Visitation for Mrs. Weaver will be Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Goodwin Church of God in Christ. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Goodwin Church of God in Christ with Elder Albert D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Goodwin Memorial Cemetery. The McNeal Funeral Home in Brinkley is in charge of all arrangements.
