Mr. Chester James Frost, aged 76, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at his home in Forrest City.
Mr. Frost was born Jan. 30, 1927 in Haleyville, Ala., the son of Floyd E. Frost and Kitty Hood Frost. He lived in St. Charles, Ill. until moving to Forrest City eight years ago.
He was a department head at Burgess Norton for 36 years, a veteran of World War II, and a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
In 1946 Mr. Frost married Helen Frances Christian. She survives him along with a daughter, Sandra Frost of Forrest City; a son, Brian Frost of Sycamore, Ill.; three sisters, Ethel Pettus and Betty Jo Paigen, both of Forrest City and Mrs. Bobby Burnetti of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Jimmy Frost of Olive Branch, Miss.; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be at Stevens Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until
8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003. Funeral services for Mr. Frost
will be at Stevens at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003. Burial
will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Harry Lee Leonard, aged 90, of Forrest City, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1913 in Arkansas, the son of Lilah Jeff Leonard and Marie Theresa Metz Leonard. He lived in St. Francis County since 1974, was a retired street car conductor in San Francisco, and was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Leonard married Shirley Elberta Dean in 1936 and she preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Harry Raymond Leonard of Carson City, Nev.; a daughter, Wanda Lee Clements of Reno, Nev.; three grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Troy Edgar Stacks, aged 89, of Marianna, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Marianna.
He was born May 16, 1914 in Tuckerman, to Edgar Van and Rosa Whaley Stacks. He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and was associated with Morgan Funeral Home for 15 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Donnie Lewis Stacks and Glen David Stacks; a daughter, Vivian Geideman; a brother, Bonnie Stacks; and three sisters, Lavaun Anderson, Myrtle Welch and Anna L. Crumpton.
Mr. Stacks is survived by a son, Charles E. Stacks of Moro; six daughters, Bobbie Ferguson of California, Verneal Montgomery, Troyce Morgan and Lynda Amos all of Marianna, Rose Mary Throgmartin of Jonesboro and Gladys Miller of Indiana; two sisters, Idella Masters of Jacksonville and Ruth Monroe of Texas; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
