Tommie Lee Austin Sr.

Mr. Tommie Lee Austin Sr., age 81, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mr. Austin was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Maleen, Miss., the son of Edgar Austin and Mattie Morgan Austin. He is survived by three sons, Tommie Lee Austin Jr. and Jerry Jones both of Forrest City and Thomas E. Ray of New Hallen, Conn.; two daughters, Emma Morman of Rossville, Tenn., Mattie Austin Teal of Memphis; a brother, James L. Austin of Forrest City; a sister, Birdie Wilburn of Forrest City; nine grandchildren and a host of other realtives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Emma Jean Mathes-Holmes.

Visitation for Mr. Austin will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at 12 p.m. at Mt. Calvary M.B. Church with Rev. Oscar Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.


Lenora Elvira Higgins

Mrs. Lenora Elvira Higgins, age 77, of Jonesboro, and formerly of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at St. Bernard Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Higgins is survived by four sons, Anderson Jones II and Larry Jones both of Forrest City, Melvin Jones of Wynne and Harvey Jones of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Shirley Jones of Forrest City, Erma Jean Jones of Memphis and Patricia Jones of Jonesboro; 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Higgins will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Union Grove M.B. Church in Forrest City with burial following in Casteel Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Wynne is in charge of all arrangements.


Deloris White Reed

Mrs. Deloris White Reed, age 54, of Silver Spring, Md., and formerly of Widener, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Montgomery General Hospital in Maryland.

Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband, Pearlie Reed of Silver Spring, Md.; two daughters, Cheryl Y. Reed of Silver Spring, Md. and Teresa Reed of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Verna Robinson of Richmond, Calif. and Joyce White of Forrest City; two brothers, Lee White Jr. of Memphis and Anthony White of St. Louis, Mo.; and one granddaughter.

Visitation for Mrs. Reed will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Anthony Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services will be held at Anthony Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Paradise Garden Cemetery.
