After not playing last week, the Forrest City Mustang golf team returned to action Monday by hosting Blytheville in conference matches at the Forrest City Country Club.
Blytheville's Max Gurley shot a 36 to take medalist honors and helped lead the Chickasaws past Forrest City 167-to-175.
Sawyer Ramsey was two strokes behind Gurley, leading the Mustangs with a 38. John Scott Carroll carded a 44 while Brian Hacker had a 45 and Cody Flowers finished with a 48. Derick McCollum shot a 52, Doug Drake fired a 54 and Steven Holmes finished with a 62 to round out the Forrest City scoring.
Blytheville did not field a girls' team, but Forrest City's Katie Ramsey and Mary Dudley Hodges each shot a 53 for the day.
The Mustangs will host Wynne on Thursday.
The East Arkansas Bandits took first place at the East Arkansas Fall Finale played in Marion, Sept. 26-28. The Bandits went 4-1 in the weekend tournament. The Bandits beat Bartlett Panthers 10-5 with Johnathon Lindsey on the mound. Lindsey was the winning pitcher. The Bandits then beat Arkansas Heat, from Sylvan Hills, 10-7 and Alex "Spanky" Flake picked up the win from the mound.
The Bandits next lost to the Mid-South Expos but earned the No. 1 seed going into the championship round. In the semifinal game, the Bandits beat the Mid-South Expos, 10-8 with Klay Jumper getting the win as the Bandits advanced to the championship game against the Arkansas Heat.
The Bandits took home the gold and a berth to the 10 Under World Series by beating the Arkansas Heat 11-5 with Caleb Martin getting the pitching victory. "The Bandits played well as a team and the chemistry came together well for the boys," Coach Sherry Jumper said.
The Bandit team members are: Johnny "J-Rat" Ratliff, Alex "Spanky" Flake, Klay Jumper, Caleb Martin and Michael "Hollywood" Hallmark, Johnathon Lindsey, Jeremey Kelley, Colby "The Storm" Rogers, Walker Mitchell, Scott Gracey and David Counce. Coaches are Donald Martin, Sherry Jumper and Jamie Counce.
