Mrs. Rosie Ellen Watters Deere, age 82, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003.
Mrs. Deere was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Hoxie, the daughter of William Watters and Ida Moore Watters. She made her home in Forrest City for most of her life and was a housewife. She was a member of the Forrest City Church of God.
Mrs. Deere was married to Cleburne "Red" Deere and he preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by one son, Charles E. Deere of Forrest City; one sister, Toby Miller of Forrest City; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Deere were held on Saturday, Sept.
6, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial
followed at Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Roman Wirski, age 87, a former Forrest Citian, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003 in Gummersbach, Germany. He had been in failing health for some time.
A native of Germany, Mr. Wirski lived in Forrest City for 20 years, and retired after a long association with Yale and Towne Manufacturing Company.
Mr. Wirski and his wife, Ursula Schubert Wirski, both natives of Germany, were married in that country in 1941. They are the parents of one son, Jim Wirski of Forrest City. He survived by his wife, Ursula, of Gummersbach; and his son and his wife, Jim and Mary Wirski of Forrest City.
Funeral services and burial for Mr. Wirski will be Thursday, September 11, 2003 in Gummersbach.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Forrest City Area Humane Society.
