Mrs. Ruth Taylor Odom, age 84, of Nashville, Tenn., died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003.
Mrs. Odom, a former long time resident of Forrest City, was born July 13, 1919, in Water Valley, Miss. She was the daughter of Roy and Pearl Taylor and lived in Forrest City from 1950 to 2001, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. George McPhail and as an accountant for Massey-Ferguson until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Odom was also a member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Odom is survived by one son, Dr. Harrell Odom II, of Nashville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrell Odom in 1980.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Odom will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Forrest Park Cemetery with Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Elinor Burns Wilson, age 75, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Wilson was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Forrest City, the daughter of Louis T. Burns and Ruby Barrett Burns. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by a daughter, Ruth Lockhart Baldwin, of Forrest City; a son, Stanley B. Melson Jr.; two sisters, Edna Earl Devasier of Caldwell and Claudine Burns Stewart of Forrest City; five brothers, Louis T. Burns of Caldwell, John A. Burns of Mountain View, Sidney B. Burns of Forrest City, Finis Burns of Ruston, La., and Jerry Burns of Gainesville, Fla.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Wilson in 2000.
Visitation for Mrs. Wilson will be held on Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church with burial following in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
