Mr. Jose Santos Avila, age 55, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock.
Mr. Avila, born Aug. 23, 1948, in Guayape Olancho, Honduras, is survived by his wife, Alice Anderson Avila of Forrest City and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Avila will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Christian Redeeming Spiritual Church No. 1, with Rev. Therother Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
Mrs. Odessa "Lucille" Bradley, age 86, of Forrest City, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Bradley, born Nov. 19, 1916, in Bonaire, was a retired farmer and a veteran of the United States Army. She is survived by four sons, Elsee Bradley and Zedekiah Worsham Jr., both of Chicago, Ill., Terry Bradley of Friendswood, Texas, and Joe Henry Bradley of Sherwood; six daughters, Juanita Bradley and Gerri Dotson, both of Chicago, Ill., Helen Rhodes, Dorothy Bradley and Annette Bradley, all of Forrest City, and Erica Scott of Little Rock; a brother, Thomas Shine of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Mary Fertha of Forrest City and Leatha Willis of St. Louis, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Bradley will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at 2 p.m. with at Rising Sun M.B. Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.
Mrs. Lubertha McShan Davis, age 74, of Jonesboro and formerly of Madison, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Davis was born July 13, 1929 in Boliver, Tenn., the daughter of Henry McShan and Ruby Willberry McShan. She is survived by eight daughters, Annie Smith and Velma Davis both of Jonesboro, Lillie Barton of Palestine, Gussie Fort of Virginia Beach, Va., Debra Davis of South Bend, Ind., Ozzie Driver of East Chicago, Ind., Gloria McKissick of Flint, Mich. and Rosie Towsend of Danville, Ill.; three sons, Walter Davis of Milton, Fla., Sammy Davis of Brickeys, Albert Davis of Ft. Pierce, Fla. She is also survived by three sisters, Dessie Bobo of Round Pond, Henretta Wells of Detroit, Mich. and Margaratt Hilldapale of Milwaukee, Wis.; a brother, Robert McShan of Round Pond; 42 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Davis will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, from 12 to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. A wake will follow from 6 to 7 p.m. at Woodhouse. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at 11 a.m., at the Williams Temple Church of God in Christ in Palestine, with Rev. Clarence Wyatt Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Garden Cemetery.
Mr. Sylvester Robinson, age 50, of Chicago, Ill. and formerly of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Robinson was a mechanic. He is survived by his step-father, George Humphrey of Forrest City; five sisters, Queen Robinson of Memphis, Loubertha Sykes of Wynne, Lucille Stegall of Detroit, Mich., Inez Toney of Milwaukee, Wis. and Valerie Robinson of Denver, Colo.; and three brothers, Almus Robinson Jr. and Jimmy Robinson both of Detroit, Mich. and Ronnie Robinson of Milwaukee, Wis.
Visitation for Mr. Robinson will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, from 7 to 8 p.m., at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home in West Memphis. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.
